Logic Newbie Question: Will Logic Pro X Run on My Hardware?

Hi all,

I'm new to the forums and, like the thread title says, I've been struggling to figure out if I should get Logic Pro X (vs. Logic Pro 9). My main concern lies in system handling. I see that Logic Pro X has a minimum system requirement of 4 GB/RAM and I've only got 6 GB/RAM installed on my computer (specs in my signature). Logic Pro 9 runs on a minimum of 2 GB/RAM and right now, I'm treating that as my fall-back option because it doesn't seem like it would be a PITA to run it with only 6 GB/RAM. But I'd like to get Logic Pro X if I can still have a decent experience running it so I'm curious to know how well it's running for users with older systems and a lower amount of RAM.

My end goal is to use a microphone/electric guitar on a 2 input interface, access Logic's MIDI instruments with my keyboard and also download the Sampletron Mellotron AU and run it in the program (once I learn the basics of interface, of course). I greatly appreciate any help/advice ya'll can give me. Thanks!

Keep in mind this plug-in is 32bit-only and Logic Pro X works with 64bit plugins exclusively. You may want to find some other mellotron instrument (Gforce MTron Pro, for example) that's available as a 64bit plugin...otherwise you'll need to resort to workarounds:

Just another quick question: how does the Mountain Lion OS work well on an older system? I only ask because I've heard bad reviews of it and I'm wondering if you've dealt with any of these issues and, if you have, how you've bypassed them. Cheers, thanks!
