seymourbeetle
Hi all, I'm new to the forums and, like the thread title says, I've been struggling to figure out if I should get Logic Pro X (vs. Logic Pro 9). My main concern lies in system handling. I see that Logic Pro X has a minimum system requirement of 4 GB/RAM and I've only got 6 GB/RAM installed on my computer (specs in my signature). Logic Pro 9 runs on a minimum of 2 GB/RAM and right now, I'm treating that as my fall-back option because it doesn't seem like it would be a PITA to run it with only 6 GB/RAM. But I'd like to get Logic Pro X if I can still have a decent experience running it so I'm curious to know how well it's running for users with older systems and a lower amount of RAM. My end goal is to use a microphone/electric guitar on a 2 input interface, access Logic's MIDI instruments with my keyboard and also download the Sampletron Mellotron AU and run it in the program (once I learn the basics of interface, of course). I greatly appreciate any help/advice ya'll can give me. Thanks!
David Nahmani
Right now I'm running Logic Pro X on a machine that only has 6GB of RAM. Works perfectly for me - I do not use large sample libraries like film composers. Most of the work I do is a mix of audio track and software instrument tracks. You should have no problems. Jordi Torres
and also download the Sampletron Mellotron AU and run it in the program Keep in mind this plug-in is 32bit-only and Logic Pro X works with 64bit plugins exclusively. You may want to find some other mellotron instrument (Gforce MTron Pro, for example) that's available as a 64bit plugin...otherwise you'll need to resort to workarounds: Logic Pro X - how to use 32-bit AU & VST plug-ins J. seymourbeetle
Just another quick question: how does the Mountain Lion OS work well on an older system? I only ask because I've heard bad reviews of it and I'm wondering if you've dealt with any of these issues and, if you have, how you've bypassed them. Cheers, thanks!
