shirleynebergall
I am a very amateur Logic Pro 9.8.1 user (MacBook Pro System 10.7.5). The sustain sticks intermittently, and sometimes only on the bounced file. I have tried changing to a Garage Band piano patch which sometimes solves the problem but not always. The Garritan piano patches are often sticking. Helpful advice in laymen terms would be so,appreciated!
David Nahmani
This typically happens if you record a part , press the sustain pedal, stop the recording and then release the sustain pedal: then Logic recorded a "Sustain On" event, but never had a chance to record the "Sustain Off" event. Therefore the instrument stays in sustain mode until the next time you press AND release the sustain pedal.
shirleynebergall
Pretty sure I was not using the sustain pedal while recording. But I will try re-recording the region to see what happens. Doesn't explain why the sustain problem has been eliminated a few times by changing from Garritan piano to Garage Band piano.....thanks and any more ideas will be welcomed. David Nahmani
You can also view the content of your MIDI regions in the Event List, see if there are sustain events in there, and whether the last sustain event is a Sustain On or Sustain Off (it should be Sustain Off to avoid stickiness issues). shirleynebergall
I am assuming in the "num" column if it says D# off, the sustain is off, right? If so, all notes say off. Another clue, problem always and only happens at the same point in the song. And when it is played on Logic it sometimes is OK but on the bounced version is always sustaining in that spot. I have a gremlin!
shirleynebergall
Another interesting thing. If I bounce just that region it is fine, but if I bounce the entire recording from the beginnins, it is sustaining at that spot.
shirleynebergall
I have deleted the offending region and re-recorded it. Seems to be bouncing without the sticking sustain. 'Twill remain a mystery!
David Nahmani
Well good to hear you found a workaround.
