swtching (zone) modes with controller

as some of the funtions of my nucleus are broken in logic X i wanted to make my own template for it, because i don`t want to wait for ssl to update (i think this will take months). so, there are zones, modes and parameters, ok.... but how can i switch modes with my controller?

in the past i did something like that for other controllers in the environment, no problem, but i know this should be possible that way too!?!
