Audio and MIDI not working after restore from sleep

On Mavericks, I find audio and MIDI devices that were connected and powered on when putting the computer to sleep do not work properly after the computer wakes up.

I have an M-Audio FastTrack Pro and an Apogee GiO. Neither work properly after waking up from sleep. I find I have to cycle the power on both to get them to work properly. Not doing so will result in programs like Logic Pro X hanging if you try to reset MIDI, and the FastTrack Pro doesn't produce any sound.

This is new behavior for Mavericks, so I suspect this is a coreaudio problem. Turning off external audio devices before going to sleep might be a good idea.

Anyone else having these issues?

After doing some investigation, I have concluded that USB Audio and MIDI devices do not seem to be initialized properly when waking from sleep. Power has to be cycled on these devices in order from them to connect properly. Attempting to start applications that use the devices (including the Audio MIDI Setup utility) will not work properly or will hang (especially the MIDI server waiting for a timeout) unless the power is cycled on these USB devices.

If Sleep mode is necessary, either power off or disconnect USB audio and MIDI devices before sleeping or waking. Then power them back on when they are needed.

I disable all "sleep" type preferences on my MBP when using DAW programs. It's a bad idea to let the computer sleep, or let the HD sleep, for these exact issues. You can disable those functions as well, or as you said, simply turn off all your devices before walking away from the computer.
