KameoDidIt
I've searched for answers to this question & continue to come up short. Ok, I have a template from akaipro.com where I can use my MPC as a sequencer & Logic as a sound module & it works perfect but I notice it only allows up to 16 Midi Channels whereas the MPC has A through D. I have a 2x2 Midi interface & I was wondering is it possible to use 32 tracks (different Ports) as opposed to just 16? The thing about Logic is it doesn't let you choose which Midi Port you want to use & I'm sure you can create just another multi-instrument in Logic's environment but for some reason that doesn't appear to be working... Jordi Torres
Logic's sequencer input object can only take up to 16 MIDI channels at a time. That's the limit. However, you can access all available input ports in the Physical Input object (Environment window, Click & Ports layer) and route their data however you like (directly to software and/or external instruments)...you just won't be able to record. For that to happen the data must be routed into the Sequencer Input object. I'm sure you can create just another multi-instrument in Logic's environment but for some reason that doesn't appear to be working... You can't input data through those. J. KameoDidIt
Since Logic's Sequencer only allows 16 Midi Channels I won't be able to use my MPC's "B" Port for more, correct?
Jordi Torres
Like I said before, you can take the data coming in from ANY port in the Physical Input object and route that directly (without passing through the Sequencer Input) to any software instrument channel strip object, or any instrument or multi-instrument object to get that data to external instruments (hardware or software). You can split the data coming in from each port by MIDI channel by using the Channel Splitter object. Not passing through the Sequencer Input object means the data won't reach a track and be recorded. The 16 channel limit is there, in the Sequencer Input object. J.
