theta79
Hello All, I am new here but recently came across someone who created a midi FX script that used the built in articulations in the Strings+ Exs instrument ading extra expression. Can anyone explain to me how the orchestral instruments in Exs labeled "+" are intended to work? There's also the Gospel Ensemble + that i'm interested in with what looks like 4 groups of samples in the editor that ar not being triggered no matter what I do ( highest, velocity, etc). Thanks in advance for any help on this. Caleb W.
David Nahmani
Hello Theta79 and welcome to Logic Pro Help! The "+" means you can select groups by Articulation ID. In Gospel Ensemble + you can use the Smart Controls (click the Smart Controls button in the Control bar, or press B) to switch between the different vowels (Aa, Uu, Oo, Mm). In the EXS instrument, the groups are selected by Articulation ID 1, 2, 3 and 4. To see the Articulation ID assignments, click the Groups button and choose View > Group: Select Group by. theta79
David, Thank you for your response. I just opened up Logic Pro X and I see the smart controls I think because I was looking at the Gospel Ensemble + in Logic Pro 9 while working on an existing project and couldn't figure out how to use the other groups. I forgot have both LP 9 and X installed and some features are not available in 9. Thanks again. Caleb W

jendakub
Hello, actually in 10.0.5 you can directly assign articulation id to particular notes in piano roll. Select notes in piano roll and right clicking there is menu that allows yo assign articulation id. Usually it is 0 is the most smooth such legato, and finishing with higher numbers for tremolo and thrills. The best of it is that articulation id is PER NOTE so you can assign several notes being pizzicato and tremolo in same midi region. Works similar as VST expressions that are PER NOTE. Really amazing. Wasn't this already available in 10.0.4? I few days ago I was messing with Articulation ID's for DKD hi-hats and noticed you could display notes' velocities per Articulation ID in the Piano Roll's MIDI Draw section. So for example, if you wanted to see which hi-hat notes were using Articulation 3, you would choose that number under "Articulation ID" in the MIDI Draw pop-up menu: J.
