PunterCam
Hi all, I need a copy of logic 9 for a project, so I'm having to look at the pre owned market. How does the licensing work with logic? Is it a case of simply installing from the disks and all is well? Or is there an online registration which ties up a licence (a-la ilok), or is there a supplied usb "dongle"? Simply put, if I'm buying someones old boxed copy of logic, will I have any problems? Thanks C
triplets
You need a valid Serial Number. So if you buy anybody's boxed DVD Logic Studio, they have to give you also a legit SN. Dongles disappeared after Logic 7.

Dongles disappeared after Logic 7. Does the previous owner have to deactivate anything to make that happen, or is the code valid regardless (but in selling it, the previous owner gives up their legal right to run the software with that serial number)? triplets
If the owner gives you his serial number, he's transferring Logic's license to you.

The code is valid regardless, but if Apple suspects foul play they could invalid it. It's happened in the past that serial numbers that were violating the End User Agreement were invalidated. David Nahmani
Not that I know of... except maybe ask Apple but I'm not sure whether or not they'll be able to help (probably not). It's all about the confidence you have in the seller.
