calvin200001
Logic runs heavy and makes my fans spin whenever I record, its there a way to make that stop? (using macbook pro retina) Second part is, if I record without the computer being plugged in, the fans wont spin, but there is lag on the recording, its not in sync with the song, whats ups with that? Logic Pro X 10.0.4 • OS 10.9 • Macbook Pro Retina • 2.6 GHz Intel Core i7 • Memory 16GB • Audio interface - Built in audio usually and sometimes I use my Duet, but don’t have mic yet • M-Audio Radium

Jordi Torres
Thanks for adding the info to your signature. It's helpful. Do you get the problem with the fans as soon as you start recording audio? Even if you do that in a new empty project? Not sure what to say about your second question as I've never recorded with my Macbook Pro while running on battery power. J.
calvin200001
the fan problem I think is directly related to the Video Card that is activated after the program begins, I do notice a heavier spinning though once I begin to record. Jordi Torres
actually the delay in recording happens with or without the plug. its weird. Check your recording delay preference. Make sure it's set to zero (Logic's audio preferences). J.

Jordi Torres
You're recording with the built-in mic? Anyways, do you have any latency-inducing plug-ins in your output channel strip? If you are, set Plug-in Delay Compensation to All and use Low Latency Mode while recording. J.
calvin200001
No everything is turned off. Its just straight in. but yea, I am using the built-in mic for now. Not the best I know. but still it should work without needing to excellerate to the fans and give me some weird delay with my records right? calvin200001
I am sorry to not have been more clear. I am using no plug-ins whilst recording. Maybe just one question at a time. I think my fans start to spin when the graphics card is activated. Is there a way to use just the integrated graphics instead of the NVIDIA while in Logic? calvin200001
thanks so much, but no, this does not work that way any more, basically there would need to be a way to tell Logic that it doesnt need to use it any more, but this program wont allow programs that require it, not to use it anymore. Jordi Torres
Oh, too bad then. Don't know any other way... J.
calvin200001
ok, so basically, if you use logic, at this point, it requires the better card, which therefore means, loud fans whenever you record.
calvin200001
ok so for the second part of this question (which by the way I found what might be a work around for the first part "smc fan control" ) the delay in recording. I am going to upload the file, if someone has time to look at it. I think it is file specific, because I tried in a new file and problem is gone. But maybe someone can figure out why there is a delay in the recording on this file, I would like to know. I have a feeling it has something to do with the beat mapping I did, but not sure. thanks in advance, I really appreciate it!! your light2 2.03.15 AM.zip
Jordi Torres
If you're going to leave the plug-ins in your output channel bypassed like they are, make sure your Plug-in Latency Compensation preference is set to "Audio and Software Instrument Tracks". When you're done recording and want to use those plug-ins again, set the PDC preference to "All". J.
calvin200001
ok, and so, by doing that, the record should now not delay?

Jordi Torres
You're welcome Forgot to say...you can also leave PDC set to All and enable Low Latency Mode. J.
