Soulspeed
Im new to logic, but have been using other programs, question is, for example when i draw my hand claps in on the 1.2.1.1 and the 1.4.1.1, during play back they are hitting with the sound on the first and third kick (1.1.1.1 and 1.3.1.1)....totally off quarter measures, any help? David Nahmani
Can you attach your project to this thread? I'll have a look. In the Finder, control-click the project and choose "Compress..." to get a .zip file then click Upload Attachment at the bottom of the text box when you click the Full Editor button. Click this link to your signature and add your system information: • Logic version and sub-version (e.g. Logic 10.0.3) • OS X version and sub-version (e.g. OS 10.8.5) • Computer (e.g. MacBook, Mac Pro, iMac) • Processor (e.g. 2 GHz Intel Core 2 Duo) • Memory (e.g. 2GB) • Audio interface manufacturer and model (e.g. Presonus AudioBox USB) • MIDI Controller manufacturer and model (e.g. M-Audio Axiom Pro 49) (most of that information can be found by choosing Logic Pro X > About Logic Pro X, and > About This Mac)
Soulspeed
ok, dave, here is half the project (as the other half is using Reason 7), so there are only a few parts so far....I just started it today, but at M41-49 I opened up an 808 and then did a real-time record to add snare hits on the 1.2's and 1.4's and i did it in realtime quantized perfectly, but then the playback was hitting in the 1.1 and 1.3....so in the midi draw box you can see where i moved the draw hits to the 1's and 3's and the audio is hitting where it should at the 2' and 4'.....weird....ill do my edit signature now....i have mavericks, what is this like 10.8.6? idk ....also have version 10.0.4 logic ...thanks Phlem Flam.zip
David Nahmani
at M41-49 I opened up an 808 Track number? in the midi draw box I'm not sure what you mean by MIDI draw box?
Soulspeed
the 808 track 7....and the piano roll (midi draw)
David Nahmani
In Logic Pro X, the MIDI Draw area is for drawing continuous controller data... but here we're talking MIDI notes, so I suppose you just mean the Piano Roll but not its MIDI draw area? the 808 track 7....and the piano roll (midi draw) That track is empty in M41-49. Soulspeed
shouldn't be, i think the 2 snare hits are actually only in measure 44 (sorry)....i figured the project would open up like i see it from here....if it doesn't, the principle of the problem is that my properly drawn or real-time record midi hits are LAGGING behind where i actually have them drawn and recorded.....so....i have to move them forward quarter-bar measures to have them physically sound in proper place
David Nahmani
Track 7 is named "Dr. Octo Rex 1" and is empty.
Soulspeed
im not sure what to say, its 7 here and the Dr. Rex is 15 ....anyway preciate your time....and offer....im over it for now....ill watch my intro CD i bought for Logic starters thanks Bryan
David Nahmani
im not sure what to say, its 7 here and the Dr. Rex is 15 Wow ok you hadn't saved your project then? I got an alert saying that I could choose from the saved version or the last auto-saved, and I chose the saved. This time I opened the auto-saved one, and that was the one that has drums on track 7. Ok so I saw the problem. Apparently the MIDI region is corrupted somehow. If I delete it, create another MIDI region and pencil-in the notes again it works as expected. Try that? Soulspeed
ok, cool, is this a bug that is happening with other people I'm wondering....i had issues bouncing with Reason yesterday (as i posted in here) but Reason support said to reinstall Reason again, but it did not work in my project that was jumbled....i think i hit some preference changes within Logic that jumbled it....however, this project here and another tester mini project bounced in sync perfectly ....ok, Dave, ill try and do a new midi-region....BTW....this did the same very thing yesterday during another midi real-time recording loop....i had to move all the midi data forward quarter measures to "hear" them correctly as i wanted them ???? any thoughts ? thanks for the help a lot bud ok, just tried realtime snare hits again, and it is showing my hits in the proper place , but the sound is quarter bars behind in sound....can i send? Soulspeed
here, this should show, and remember, this is doing it from realtime recording (and when the red recording loop is being drwn and recorded, the hits appear to be in the right place .... but the audio isn't on playback Phlem Flam midi record lag.logicx.zip
David Nahmani
I'm not sure how to help further other than trying to work around the corruption. If a new recording in a new region presents the same problem then I'd try duplicating the track (in case that's some form of track corruption) and finally, if that does it again on the new track then I'd recommend trying to rebuild the project (with the All Files Browser you can reimport all your tracks into a new empty project in one go). David Nahmani
I get the same alert again upon trying to open that new project you posted. Are you saving those projects before compressing them?
Soulspeed
can you explain to me how to do the full import of all tracks again (a bit more specific)....im brand new to logic ...thank you....seems to only be doing this in realtime recording
David Nahmani
Ok we're going to make a deal: I'll answer your question after you answer mine! So...: Are you saving those projects before compressing them?
Soulspeed
yes i think so....here is a brand new example of just a 4 bar recorded piano hit i did in realtime recording....you can see when you open the midi roll view how the audio is lagging behind my midi hits Sample of Realtime Recording Lag.zip
David Nahmani
Ok so far I have no idea how your projects behave like that... and importing tracks from the All Files Browser does not work (all you have to do is locate the source project, select it and click Import, then select the desired tracks and click Add). Soulspeed
yes, I'm bummed about the lag....good thing is is that I'm not a real musician, and have always used the piano roll to step sequence and draw notes most always ....just weird it does this....Reason never behaves this way....maybe ill figure it out one day....thanks for helping, have to get to bed....talk later bud HEY DAVE....JUST FIXED THE ISSUE....OK IN THE INSPECTOR WINDOW THE DELAY SETTING WAS ON (AND KEEPS COMING UP "ON" 1/4....HENCE QUARTER BAR BEHIND....I TURNED IT OFF AND BINGO....THE RECORDING IS ON TIME
David Nahmani
Oh I see! I checked the track delay but what's happening is that in your MIDI Thru settings, you have a Delay set to 1/4. So click the background of the workspace, and the region inspector will show MIDI Thru. Make sure the Delay is set to zero. From now on, new recordings won't have that delay applied. Soulspeed
Relief it was, thanks for your time and help....im trying to learn all this auto bussing and aux channels now, confusing, cause Reason didn't automatically add these things, and i rarely bussed, so getting a grip on this now....but heading into work for the evening ....thanks again
