Rolo Tomasi
I still can't figure out why my .wav format Acidized loops won't work in Logic. If I drag the loop directly from its folder onto the arrange pane it should stretch or compress to whatever master tempo Logic is at, correct? The loops are 16/44.1. Will they not playback correctly at a higher bitrate? My project sample rate is 44.1 but my bit rate is 24. Maybe that's the problem? I don't know. I dropped four acidized loop folders onto the loop browser and now only one folder shows up under Jam Pack Management or some weird thing. I'm feeling like a total idiot. But seriously it seems like it should't be this difficult. What am I doing wrong?
David Nahmani
There shouldn't be anything to do but to drag and drop the file into the Arrange window. What you could do is open the files in the Apple Loop Utility and turn them into Apple Loops!
Rolo Tomasi
There shouldn't be anything to do but to drag and drop the file into the Arrange window. I know, I know, that's what's so frustrating. Here's what happens when I do that: Shouldn't that 8 bar loop automatically "lock" to 120 bpm if it's acidized?
Rolo Tomasi
I know I could also convert them into apple loops by placing them in the arrange and selecting >region>add to apple loops utility, but I've got 1000 of them! Isn't there a way to do an entire folder at once rather than one by one?
gdoubleyou
Acid loops are a subset of apple loops developed by the same team. They will retain their metadata in the A loop utility, and you can batch process them. But if you want them to show up in the correct catagories you will have to add the tags. otherwise they will just show up as whatever the folder is named. You can presort into folders with instrument names and batch process the folder contents. 8)
rikki rivett
Shouldn't that 8 bar loop automatically "lock" to 120 bpm if it's acidized? Yes, it should. Are you sure it's acidized? The ALU will tell you. Also, is the "follow tempo" box checked in the track parameters? HTH RR
David Nahmani
You can select all the loops in the Apple Loop Utility, check the "Looping" checkbox and save. If they are tag they should work, but it's odd that they are not already saved as "Looping". The icon on your picture shows that they are detected by Logic as simple audio files vs acid or apple loops.
editbrain
i have had this issue, and the way i solve it is to drag the files onto the Loop Browser and then they work as they should.
Rolo Tomasi
Are you sure it's acidized? The ALU will tell you. Well, they say .wav, but I downloaded them from an acidized loop website, so I'm assuming they are. It says on the website they are. You can select all the loops in the Apple Loop Utility, check the "Looping" checkbox and save. David, how do I select a whole file at once rather than one by one? When I open the ALU it seems I can only change them one by one. One thing that has worked: selecting the file in the arrange window via region>add to apple loops utility. This works great but obviously a PITA since its only one file at a time. Any way I can add the whole folder at once?
Rolo Tomasi
THAT'S WHAT I'M TALKIN' BOUT! Ok, I'm having a Logic geek breakthrough moment...(these are fewer and far between these days so forgive my enthusiasm).... The files may have been acidized files but for whatever reason Logic didn't agree and claimed they were ordinary wav files (as David pointed out). The solution, which took a bit of familiarizing myself with the Apple Loops Utility, was to simply open them in the ALU and convert them into Apple Loops (which, again, was pointed out): What you could do is open the files in the Apple Loop Utility and turn them into Apple Loops! However, one key (albeit Mac OS 101) component of converting massive MB's of audio files is how to do them quickly. Hello?? Alt+Click anyone? Once I realized I could select all the files in the ALU by alt clicking them I was in business. From there it was all gravy as I could see the transients and tag them as I wanted. So good times all around. Thanks rikki, gdub, editbrain, and of course you David.
fader8
One thought comes to mind here. If when you create your song, and you've selected to have all audio files copied to the project folder and converted to the songs format, might this remove the metadata attributes from the acidized loop files?
