Move Drummer folder to ext HD

Recommended Posts

I tried to move the drummer folder to an external HD, create an alias, move the alias back and rename it in the Logic folder.

But Logic keeps asking to redownload the audio content.

This method works fine for ultrabeat and exs instruments...but not for drummer.

any ideas ?

The Drummer folder should stay where it is, it only contains the patterns, not the drumsamples. Those are in the Library/Application Support/Logic/EXS Factory Samples/03 Drums & Percussion folder. You should copy the 03 D & P folder, delete the original, and drag back an alias. That's how I succesfully moved all EXS (and Garageband (= also EXS)) samples, including Drummers', to a dedicated disk.

I'm copying the entire [Application Support> Logic] folder to an external USB 3.0 SSD. Before I delete the original and place an alias into the [Application Support] folder, has anyone had great success in doing this and having it work well with Logic X?
