Logic pro x audio problem (laggy and distorted)

When i try to pull up a third party plug in or stock logic plugin the track is distorted but i dont see any sign of it clipping on the master bus or the plug in itself ...it makes this delayed distorted sound ...but when i turn the track off the loud delayed distorted noise disappears i dont know what to check or do right now i tried to increase the buffer size but that didnt work. PLEASE HELP

Are you listening through the built in interface/speakers?

Try opening Audio MIDI Setup.app and see which sample rate your output is at.
