phatelvis
I like playing piano performances without a click, but sometimes would hope to align other rhythmic elements to the performance, or maybe overdubb stuff, but would need a click to go along with it. i can never figure out how to beat map without altering my midi performance. confused
David Nahmani
If you're beat mapping your MIDI performance then it shouldn't affect the timing of your performance (the way it sounds) but it will affect the bar/beat position of the MIDI notes. If you're beat mapping something else.... then I'm not sure what you're doing exactly. Maybe a couple of before/after screenshots would help? phatelvis
I'm an idiot! i forgot you have to make sure the SMPTE lock position is checked on the individual region, otherwise changing the tempo via Beat map will just move everything around and mess with the performance. thanks David! David Nahmani
You should not have to lock SMPTE on the MIDI region that you're beat mapping. Sounds like you're probably doing something else. Either way, glad to hear you're sorted.
