Best way to make drums for a videogame song?

Hi,

I'd like to get better at making drums since I'm making a song that I feel needs a pretty decent backbeat to work. When making drum sections for MIDI files, how do you suggest creating them? I've just been plugging them in on the midi keyboard and quantizing up to this point, and I get the feeling that there is a better way. How do you guys make drum sections in logic for MIDI files? I've taken a look at Ultrabeat, but it seems like a lot to learn so I'd like to get feedback on the forum first before learning anything

For a videogame? Do you have a deadline?

Drummer is rock - based, if you want EDM then either use a loop from the library or try the Ultrabeat preset beats.

If you are not in a hurry (and want to), write your own with Ultrabeat, if you aren't experience in writing beats, have a look at the note positions of the library ones or drag some out of the Ultrabeat and analyse the positions.

good luck

I have a tentative deadline but it is flexible.

I tried out drummer, but it doesn't get precise enough for me. Then again, that may well be because I suck at using it.

I've been looking into ultrabeat as well, but am having a difficult time understand how to increase velocity gradually. Is there a way to crescendo and decrescendo beats without clicking on each one manually? The only options I see are to "Alter" and "Randomize" the velocity.
