Something Changed after Logic Update..can I get it back?

Hi,

Use to be when I recorded a midi pass on top of an exiting midi track it would layer the second part I just played and then I would have the option to quantize just that new part or whatever and then could use a key command to merge it into the existing track (making it into one contiguous region of Midi targeting that virtual instrument. It did not seem to work that way after the update so I was puzzled..

After some snooping I see under the record settings menu MIDI: Overlapping regions and right now it's set to "join when cycling". Which explains why it's not working the way it used to for me.

My problem is I can't find a option to get it back to the way it used to be described above prior to then recent Logic Pro X update?

Can anyone help or tell me what I am missing?

Thanks,

Dave
