USb mics on Logic pro x

only got $200 for a mic because just bought a macbook pro and logic pro x software! i really need an answer by Thursday…..lol and I'm mos defiantly getting ether a apogee mic or a blue yeti! but just can't decide, they both seem cool but some peeps are saying that sometimes they don't even pick up sound and stuff on logic pro x….!??? can you help

Yep, Blue Yeti is 16 bit (booo!) Blue Yeti Pro however, is 24 bit (yay!).

 

(Some) USB mics not working was a bug in 10.0.5, it has been fixed in 10.0.6.

 

A third option is the AKG Perception 120 USB, which is also 24 bit.

All cheaper USB mics and even some more expensive ones are only 16 bits.

 

If you can, do a simultane-test (record the same sound simultaneously into all three microphones on to three separate tracks and listen and judge the recorded files via an blindlistening app such as this one: https://itunes.apple.com/us/app/abxtester/id427554135?mt=12

That way you only let your ears decide. Make sure when recording that the input levels on all three tracks are equal.
