lap
Is there a way to select one audio driver for input and a different one for output? I have an old Quattro for the input and I'm using all 4 channels for input so I want to use the "Built-in Audio" driver for the Macs headphone connection. Thanks. (Also, I'm using Logic Express)
benw
i believe you have to set up an aggregate(aggregator?) device inside the environment and then you can select your output and input independently... i think... David?
Fred B
If you are on OS X Tiger, you can create an 'aggregate device' in the utility 'Audio MIDI Setup' and use it as driver for Logic. The individual devices will then be available in Logic on different channels of the aggregate device.
lap
Thanks for the quick response. It looks like I'm going to have to get a copy of Tiger. I currently at version 10.3.
shivermetimbers
Can't you simply set your computer System Preference (Sound) to the built in audio selection?
Fred B
Can't you simply set your computer System Preference (Sound) to the built in audio selection? No. Logic's input/output is controlled by its own driver settings, independent of the system sound preferences.
shivermetimbers
In the Logic screen, the ins and outs have to be the same device. Outside of logic the ins and out can be separated. In your case, the quattro still has 4 outputs, so I would recommend doing a google search for a ' 4 channel mixer/w headphone jack. I have seen some for around $69. I am not sure what you mean by that? Oh I think I just got it: you mean in the system preferences you can choose different devices for the input and the output? As Fred B said, in Tiger you can create an aggregate device, allowing you to simultaneously access the inputs and outputs of any device from Logic.
