Volume Help

Hey all, just recently i upgraded from fruityloops to logic pro 7.2, So far i am happy with the change the only exception is the volume slider. when i set the volume in one track lets say to -4.6 any i play the track it jumps up to +6.0. I have checked the automation and nothing helps, even if i set it to -4.6 in the automation it still jumps, Any suggestions?

 

Also what does the off, read, write, touch, latch and midi stand for?

Check both Hyperdraw (MIDI region-based automation) and Track Based Automation. Try setting the automation to off on that channel strip and see if it stops jumping?
