One sided stereo video soundtrack problem [SOLVED]

Recommended Posts

I have recorded a video (just me speaking to camera, nothing fancy) with the audio by mistake recorded on only one side of a stereo track (left) due to the microphone cable which goes to the camera being a split cable, and only recording on one side.

Went to the apple store for advice and they suggested I copy the track to another audio track and pan them different ways. But I can't because they will only pan one way, left (the other way is of course silent!) and so the sound still only comes out on the left!

How do I get the second stereo track to pan right? Or am I looking at this problem the completely wrong way?

I just want the video sound to come out of both speakers when played on the telly. Or want it mono so that it sounds at least a fuller sound than one sided. Grateful for any advice - and fast please! (Also, answers in simple non-techie language please!)

Many thanks, in anticipation.

I am still using Logic 9.

Click this link to your signature and add your system information:

• Logic version and sub-version (e.g. Logic 10.0.5)

• OS X version and sub-version (e.g. OS 10.9.1)

• Computer (e.g. MacBook, Mac Pro, iMac)

• Processor (e.g. 2 GHz Intel Core 2 Duo)

• Memory (e.g. 2GB)

• Audio interface manufacturer and model (e.g. Presonus AudioBox USB)

• MIDI Controller manufacturer and model (e.g. M-Audio Axiom Pro 49)

(most of that information can be found by choosing Logic Pro X > About Logic Pro X, and  > About This Mac)

I see there are various options there (never needed to use them before!).

Should I choose left for each of the two tracks (the original and the one I have copied) to make a new stereo track for the video? (And if so, do I just leave the panning of the two tracks central, before exporting them as a stereo track?)

Or should I just make a mono track from the original single stereo track? Which will sound best on a mainly speech video? Thanks.
