logicscott
Has anyone done any research or experienced and sound quality diffference between slower or faster burn times in Waveburner?
blueintheface
There is no difference in WaveBurner's output at those speeds - any resulting difference is down to media - it is not advisable to burn CD's slower than their recommended minimum write speeds - you will get more errors. I suspect the optimum write speed varies from media to media, and batch to batch. . . . and can only be determined ny experimentation.
editbrain
i use to follow this very closely back in my linux days and development stages. i would say burn 1/3 of your media top speed. so if you media is 24x then burn at 8x. i have been thinking of getting a realtime burner. i just don't trust and never have trusted the "X" factor of audio in a burner if it wasn't realtime. good for data, bad for streaming type media. audio or video. MHO.
Colinc
yea I don't believe there is a quality difference, more of a reliability difference. if you burn it at a lower speed the disc tends to be more reliable... I have experimented in my own travels and found lower speed burned discs tend to not have playback issues and I can be a little more rambunctious with them when I take them out to DJ with.
