q41
Hello, you can download from here. WidgetKiller is free and available from Apple's Dashboard downloads section. but now apple have a internal problem, try later. Best
Nublu
I've been using DashPrefs for 8 months or so, without any problems http://captire.info/DashPrefs/
David Nahmani
Why not just turn off the shortcuts that launch the Dashboard? If you never launch it, it won't take any CPU or RAM. If you need it, you can still easily launch it. Once launched, all widgets are in RAM and you have to restart the computer to turn them off. Is that where those apps help? When you want to use them and then turn them off? Otherwise, if you just want to never use them... just never use them.
Nublu
I just ran a small test with DashPrefs and Activity Monitor. I turned Dashboard on and it activated 7 widgets. After returning to the desktop the widgets were alive in ram as inactive processes. Went to DashPrefs and turned off Dashboard. The widgets were taken out of Ram completely. Didn't have to restart the computer. Thing is I like to play with some of the available widgets... but I am really good at accidently "Dashboarding my concentration"... so for reasons of, ahem, discipline, I turn Dashboard off completely.
