Weird clipping overload

Recommended Posts

I have apogee duet and tonight I was working on a track and adjusting the eq in ozone and I think I pushed the apple mouse scroller up and my audio interface overloaded. I mean, it made this distorted kind of clipping sound through my monitors. Very loud and unpleasant. Afterwards it went back to normal. Any causes for concern about this error? Never happened before.

The sound of clipping is nasty, but it will not damage your equipment, unless they (speakers? headphones?) were already at the extreme edge of what they could handle. But if it damaged your speakers or headphones, then you would hear that: a blown speaker sounds distinctively broken, not unlike a singer with heavy laryngitis.
