How to organize AU Plugins by categories?

Hi!

I'm trying to organize my 3rd part AU plugins by categories. I supposed all I had to do was create new folders inside the mac>library>audio>plugins>components path, and put each AU plugin inside each folder, but it didn't work.

Is there a way to do that?

Thank you

i don't think you can, Logic validates and lists everything by manufacturer and alphabetically.... the folder idea you had works great with grouping channel strips or EXS instruments.

what categories would you want to make?

I forgot. the way protool does too. When we install a new 3rd part plug in, it apears on a category list. This way, you don´t have to scroll through a very long plug in list to find the delay (for example) you´re looking for.

I´d like to know if it´s possible to do the same thing using LP.

It is a good idea. Frequently I know which plug-in I want but can't remember which manufacturer it is.

The nearest possible method would be to load them into a channel strip, then save them as Channel Strip Settings which can be organised in folders. That way you could have the same multi fx plug-in under different categories.

Maybe a bit silly, but you could have all the effect plug-ins of one category in a single channel strip, all bypassed. Then switch them on individually until you find the one you need.
