Logic crashing 30sec into opening a session... HELP!!!

SELF

Recommended Posts

I've tried trashing preferences, and repairing disc permissions, but it still happens on any session I open. I'm not sure what else I can do (I just checked the bug section to no avail.) Any other work around?

If I were to attempt a clean install of just Logic, will I lose any of my (non native) user instruments/user presets? Will I have to reinstall the plugins, or just rescan for them? I've never had to do with Logic, so i'm afraid i'm going to lose something important. I want to make sure I cover all the bases (I've lost a lot in the past.)

I'm on a Macbook running 10.4.9 W/ Logic Express 7.2.3 (I just updated to 7.2.3 but it didn't fix it.) I use an Mbox mini, but it happens when I use the internal sound card too.

Before reinstalling, I would try to see if the problem is with your user files or with the system install.

For that, create a new user (in your system preferences, under "Accounts", click the '+' sign at the bottom left), and see if Logic works without crashing for that user.

Is there a way to make all my files accessible to both users? I don't want to have to log in and out to use other programs. Also, If I were to reinstall Logic would the user problem happen again?

Thanks in advance.

Any files in '/' (root) will be accessible by all users.

Any files in '~/' (user) will only be accessible by that specific user.

So you could try to move your files from '~/' to '/', and that would make them available to both users.
