BobTheDog
Hi Guys. I am trying to setup a guitar controller to use Sculpture. The controller sends pitch-bend changes for hammer ons pull offs. It sounds to me like Sculpture is smoothing the pitch-bend info in some way over time which sounds like a very quick glide rather than an instant change in pitch. Is there a way of telling it not to do this? Thanks for any help Andy
David Nahmani
I don't think Sculpture is smoothing out anything... I just tried to input some quasi-instantaneous pitch change info manually, and Sculpture responds to it instantaneously. Try to open the MIDI region recording in the Matrix, and View > Hyperdraw > Pitch, and see what the pitch bend info looks like?
BobTheDog
Hi Dave, Thanks for the reply. Pitchbend info looks ok to me. I am trying to attach a picture and audio file with no luck! Cheers Andy
BobTheDog
Hi David, I get this when trying to attach anything Safari can’t open the page “http://www.logicprohelp.com/posting.php”. The error was: “lost network connection” (NSURLErrorDomain:-1005) Please choose Report Bug to Apple from the Safari menu, note the error number, and describe what you did before you saw this message. David Nahmani
How big is the file? Sounds like a problem with Safari... which version are you using? I'm using 2.0.4 here with no problems.
BobTheDog
Hi David, Same version here, I will try IE. Cheers Andy

BobTheDog
Worked ok in IE under Parallels. Cheers Andy
David Nahmani
Sounds pretty instantaneous to me? I don't hear any smoothing out. I believe it's normal, it's just a very very quick legato between the two notes.
BobTheDog
Hi David, It is the quick legato I need to get rid of. You get the same affect on a Virus TI with smoothing or exponential pitch bending turned on. It is a shame as I quite like the synth. Thanks for your interest Andy
David Nahmani
Well if that's the way the instrument reacts to pitch bend, there's not much you can do about that. What would you like: a new attack on the new note? What you could research is whether pull-offs and hammer-ons can retrigger a new note rather than send pitch-bend information, or at least send another kind of information. BobTheDog
Hi David, Yes you can set it up to trigger a new note with a new envelope but this is not what I want, what I want is for the pitch to change to the new value instantly without triggering the envelopes. All other synths I use work this way, or have a setting to work this way I just wondered if there was a setting for Sculpture. Thanks Andy
David Nahmani
what I want is for the pitch to change to the new value instantly without triggering the envelopes That's what I am hearing in your sculpture example... I don't hear the smoothing out you're mentioning.
