velanche
Hello: Soon, it'll be time for me to deal with my growing sample library. So far, I've done at least two dozen projects in LPX. Each time I saved a project, I made sure to check the extra boxes that includes saving samples and EXS instrumetns. Given this, how safe is it for me to move the sample library I have to another location, or even to a dedicated external drive? If you can also share best practices on this, that would be helpful as well. Thanks for reading! V.
David Nahmani
1) Are using only the factory samples and instruments that come with Logic (vs using 3rd party or custom samples and sampler instruments)? 2) Are you only concerned about opening those projects on your Mac (vs having to open them on another Mac that doesn't have the same samples/instruments installed)? If you answered yes to 1) OR to 2) then you don't need to check the extra boxes: just select "Audio Files" at the bottom of the Save window. To save your project to an external drive, choose File > Save As, direct the Save window to a location on the external drive and save.
velanche
1) Are using only the factory samples and instruments that come with Logic (vs using 3rd party or custom samples and sampler instruments)? Third-party samples that I have currently contained in a samples folder on my HD. 2) Are you only concerned about opening those projects on your Mac (vs having to open them on another Mac that doesn't have the same samples/instruments installed)? Just on my Mac only. If you answered yes to 1) OR to 2) then you don't need to check the extra boxes: just select "Audio Files" at the bottom of the Save window. Got it. To save your project to an external drive, choose File > Save As, direct the Save window to a location on the external drive and save. Cool. My strategy may be, especially when my project is done, to have a copy on both my local and external drive. Locally, in case I want to access it in a pinch, and externally as a backup. Thanks for the tips, David! V.
