deckard1
Hello, I have a brand new pair of Yamaha HS7's. They are great monitors, but, when no music is playing there is a very annoying buzzing sound being emitted. It's driving me nuts! I am fairly certain it is not the monitors which are at fault. Sounds like a grounding issue. I am currently using balanced 1/4 inch cables with an Apogee One. Also, not sure if this is a factor or not, but, I live in an apartment building. Any advice? Thanks. triplets
Doesn't the Apogee One just have a mini headphone out? So that means if you use a mini to trs adapter you need a TRS to 2 TS cable to feed the Yamahas. That cable would be unbalanced, but there's no other way that I know of to do it. Yes...you are absolutely correct! I didn't realize this type of cable was unbalanced. That means I have to get another audio interface to get rid of the noise? Oy vey! EDIT: Just called Apple Support...and, It turns out Apple has an extended Holiday return policy...so I can return the Apogee One and get a Duet instead. Thanks again, Triplets. I pulled out an old audio interface (Presonus Audiobox) and used some balanced cables and the unwanted buzzing sound is indeed gone for good. What a difference in sound quality too! Debating whether I even need to upgrade to a Duet.
triplets
The buzzing came probably from the mini adapter you had to use.
