I'm using a Dual G5 1.8GHz. The time for upgrade is approaching. Maybe I'll get the next 16 core Wonder Mac Pro with 45" LED multi-touch display. :wink:

I also use a PowerBook G4 1.67GHz, which I am comtemplating ditching for one of the brand new Mac Book Pros!

haha yeh you never know whats round the corner with apple ;)

I picked up a brand new macbook pro 2.16 core 2 duo 2gb ram etc... using it as my one and only machine and it's great, I have a 22" widescreen hooked up to it as well for when im working on big projects. I knew a new macbook pro would be out soon but as I picked mine up for £970 im pretty happy ;) It has all the power I could want :)

Using a 1 Ghz 12' powerbook and surprised at the power i have as compared to PT LE/Live 6. Just switched to Logic thanks to GC's memorial day sale so there went my new computer funds. But, Logic is truly worth it.

PowerMac = PowerPC G3,G4 or G5 processor

PowerBook = G3, G4 processor, never got to G5 because of heat issues

Macbook, Macbook Pro and Mac Pro = Intel processor

Mac Mini = G4 and now Intel, never had G5

There is no "powerbook G5"

There is no "Mac pro G5"

Mac Pro is not a Power Mac

So you iMac users, even laptop users obviously don't run a second HD for your audio data...

How well does that approach work for you people???

I have an external drive for all my samples however i run my projects directly from my laptop drive.

Cheers

Even Firewire drives can go at 800Mbps as opposed to 1.5Gbps for an SATA drive or 3Gbps for SATAII.

So I cant imagine streaming to a Firewire Drive, ofcourse it would depend highly on your track count and Sampling Rate.

What track count do you get running on an internal HD??

I have a Mac Pro two 2.66 dual-core with 5 GB ram. Unfortunately I am not using it now, because it appears one of the cores is defective and is causing kernel panics everytime I boot up. It was great when it was working. But it's the second time to repair it for me in 6 months. So Apple had better replace it.
