creating a new audio track

When I create a new audio track, it has the same name and settings as the track above it. How do I change this? When I change anything on the channel strip, both tracks change together. I realize it probably has something to do with creating a new audio object, but I don't have the procedure straight in my head, and I haven't been able to get it to work. Could someone give me a simple, step-by-step explanation?

Thanks!

Or you can use the" Create with next instrument" command in the track menu.

When you simply "create" a track Logic thinks that you want to do another pass using the same audio instrument, or, on an audio track, record another take by the same live player. In Logic, the tracks are independent from the channel so that mulitple takes (or tracks if you wish) can play through a single channel! When you get used to it, it is very coold and flexible!

If you wish to reassign a track to a different channel then you click and hold on the track name which presents the "layers" in the environment where you can select an alternative channel/object.

This (and what Triplet suggested,) worked. Thanks for your help, guys!

I really appreciate having a forum like this. I've been through Martin Sitter's tutorial book, and I refer back to it, and to the manual, all the time, but sometimes it's less exhausting to just ask a question and get an answer!

Once I'm a little more experienced with Logic, I hope to be able to contribute the occasional word of wisdom myself, and help some other folks out!
