  1. The production is pretty solid. The songs themselves are good, but perhaps a little predictable. Good work though keep it up!
  2. Hey, I miked the sax with a budget ribbon microphone (The T Bone ribbon from Thomann.de) pointed at the upper end of the sax (soprano) and a large diaphragm condenser (A Brauner) about a foot away capturing the overall of the sound. I blended these together and that was it, no EQ required. Thanks for the comment.
  3. Synths are 100% Logic (as you can probably tell...) as are all plugs apart from Vintage Warmer and Ozone 3. Apologies for the quality, myspace sure knows how to rape a tune. www.myspace.com/lauriebhayes 'Tidings'
  4. Ive only ever used soft synths so I was wondering this about hard synths. Could I connect my hard synth to an interface i.e. MBOX2 and simpy get the sounds out of it without having to play its own keyboard. For example, use a MIDI controller that would trigger the sounds of the hard synth? Thanks in advance.
  5. You wont have to disconnect your Apogee duet when running Pro Tools, but I don't see any benefits of having it connected? You wont be able to use it in conjunction with PT. Be grateful you will have both bits of gear - I have to make do with an MBox2 for running PT and Logic. Yes, I would disconnect your MBox2 when not using PT, they tend to cause problems, i.e. my MBox2 can has made my system Kernel Panic when using it with Logic. Also, I have found that with my MBox2 that if it connected for too long without being used, when you finally do use it it crackles and you have to unplug it and reocnnect it to 'refresh' it anyway. Hope this helps.
  6. Hi, I would tend to agree to some extent with the above posters as my MBOX2 also causes problems with my system....HOWEVER the professional community at large still use Pro Tools (rightly or wrongly) and so I would not ditch your MBOX as being PT proficient is pretty much an essential skill to have if you wish to work in studios other than your own.
  7. wow, shame on me, I'd never even really looked at the ES E or M or P!
  8. I head ya Dave, makes sense. Wish I had the bucks to shop around!
  9. I personally find Logic's ES2 soft synth fantastic. I have yet to strive for a sound that I havn't managed to find on it. So with hard synths on the market for thousands of bucks I was wondering how much better they can actaully be? I've never used a hard synth so can someone shed some light on where the difference in price is actually seen?
  10. I'm afraid I can't give you any advice, but my system has been kernel panicking quite a lot since installing Logic, particularly...well almost always when I quit Logic. I had a new motherboard installed and this has reduced the problem somewhat, but not resolved it. Likewise, I have found that your system will Kernel Panic less if you do not plug things into your ports, i.e. USB, firewire. So keep that to a minimum and if you are getting Kernel Panics when quitting programs, like I do, then remove all external things, like your hard drive, and it will probably happen less.
  11. I'm using an MBOX2. Of course its the leads! I'm using s#!+ ones I found lying around....wow that's embarrassing, can't believe I didn't think of the leads first. Cheers
  12. I just aqquired some Tannoy Reveal Active monitors (the old blue ones) and am very happy with them. However when I turn on my screen / monitor there is LOADS of interference noise. Is there anything I can do to combat this? bearing in mind my desk is pretty small. Cheers in advance.
  13. Hey, thanks for ll your help / thoughts. I'm inclined to think that something is going wrong with my Mac rather than the M-Audio controller. My reason for thinking this is that I had the same problem with an Edirol controller - installed drivers, plugged it in and nothing... again it worked on mates identical set up. I'll try those last bits of advice you suggested. Similarly, my lecturer has just released an entire book on Logic so he may well be able to help me when we go back at the end of summer... long time to go without a keyboard though, at the moment I'm battling with Logic using my keypad as a controller! Ah well, ill get back to you if I have any luck, thanks again.
  14. Hi again... thanks for your reply, Right. 1) When I created an external MIDI track the only things that showed up in the library two folders, one 'GM devices' which had the grand piano etc in it, the other 'other objects folder' which was click tracks and other things - no radium controller. 2) the GM device was on channel 1 as default, but i didn't know what you meant by making sure my actual Radium controller was set to channel one - there is nothing on the controller about selecting its channel as far as i can see - anyhow i presumed it was on channel 1 as default. 3) i proceeded to record and tap the keys whilst doing so. nothing showed up in the transport bar - no response from the controller at all. I do hope you have some suggestions this is so frustrating! surely it shouldnt be this hard! - when my friend used his MIDI controller Logic found it straight away and he didn't have to do anything. When i tried his controller on mine I had this same problem so there is obviously something wrong with the way things are set up. argh! Thanks again for your patience and help.
  15. Ahh thats awesome, thanks both for your help.
  16. How does one move through notes as though they are tied together (glissando in musical terms), i.e. pitch shifting through mulitple notes. Im sure its simple but I can't seem to work it out!
  17. OK, I have connected the controller, created a new device in the A/M setup and when I scan for devices my newly created device 'lights up' / highlights. Whats the next step?
  18. haha, thanks for your help! actually i have no internet at my house and am driving back and forth between two different houses to respond to messages! I really have no idea why there are multiple MBOX2 devices, but there are four of them in the A/M setup, all greyed out. Will get back to you on whether it scans the radium shortly. Thanks again!
  19. Hiya, many thanks for your help. 1) Yes drivers are definitely installed. 2) The only things showing up on their own are multiple MBOX2 devices, a purple box called 'Network' and a red box called 'IAC Driver'. 3) No my device didnt show up and I have now added it manually 4) Thats kool, how do I now get Logic set on the same channel? And also how does my Audio / MIDI setup know that the device I have created is my USB controller? Many thanks again. I await your reply with anticipation!
  20. Yeh i would think it works (can't say for definite). I moved across all of my Apple Loops and Logic relinks and finds them on the HD
  21. Is this not the same principle as the 'audio / midi setup' that you find under Application > Utilities?
  22. yes have restarted multiple times / reinstalled drivers mutliple times
  23. Hey thanks to everyone for their help. In the audio / midi setup my controller does not appear at all. i don't know what's wrong - my mac just seems to refuse to acknowledge that the MIDI controller is plugged in. Its not the controller itself either as this has happend with two different controllers that I know work on other systems. I really don't know what there is left for me to try?!
