ya kinda thinking that too ssd1tb and install would be about 600 euros, plus as I wouldnt do job myself

ok so firewire 800 is not going to cut it for a 7200rpm external drive for project folders? I thought above you said it was fine first...only that u favoured usb3 which my computer does not support... so, Im left with an internal ssd, which I happened to be thinking about anyway but I was starting to drift from the idea as more expensive than external hd-& I believed it wouldnt improve my "bottleneck" issue going on with frozen tracks draining to my HD resources for the audio files within a project.........at same time my cpu is spiking but I ve just added more ram to improve things hopefully...... so actually exactly what I was thinking, an internal ssd of 1tb means this is a better soltuion than having project files seperate on an external drive, basically my last track had 10 frozen channels, and using two auxs for fxs kept giving me playback issues and spikes causing error windows and track halting, Ive just added an extra 2 gb ram as its quite an old imac mid2007 so now its has 6 gb ram, I could have sworn that the next thing to try was specfically an external drive @ 7200rpm for project folders.. I can do the save for t he internal ssd if this is the better option for optimising the machine I have for my logic work......

ps would an external ssd be better.. I plan on getting my internal hdd replaced with a 1Tb ssd at some point, would that swap down the line also improve logic preformance by the way it would be good if it did, but it would be a luxory alteration for more free space at this point but if that also helps logic preformance I might speed up when I get that done, so same with external hhd or ssd be better?

hey does this mean that you can buy one all "complete" but it might not be up to spec, I did read apple recommends 7200rpm are you suggesting it is hard to find a hd 7200rpm as is, that you have to do as you suggested, or do u mean a superior brand over something else in an enclosure, or is it cheaper or something, Id have to use firewire 800, my computer is usb2...... so once I get a 7200rpm backup disk, that will be fine? can you elaborate why Id need to get an enclose sepaetely to the drive component??

Ive been pointed several places that I should be keeping logic progects on a dedicated, separate drive to my system drive, therefore Im looking to buy a firewire 800(only slot free on machine) external drive for this purpose of storing project folders, will any firewire 800 hhd be acceptable or is there options superior for this job, to be considered instead or aswell?

I havnt purchased 7 just yet , this was before I started buying plugins but it takes me weeks and can only get one at a time, altiverb 7 is one I want but Im not there yet

well.....Im demoing 32 lives as we speak, it ressurected most plugins includinging altiverb 6; but this fails validation not liek the rest of ressurected 32 bit plugs, it failed too in logic 9 as 32 bit but you could still use in an incompatible list, no probs, however there right now seems no way to force enable it for use incompatible, thats what I need to try most of the plugs Im demoing 32 bit lives for I could forget about, wouldnt mind force using altiverb 6 until I get more money together...

In logic x, I have an old altiverb 6 which I used in logic 9 under incompatible plugins.... I cant figure out how to do same in logic X, I want to force use it though it fails validation, how can you achieve what I once did in logic 9?

ps I forgot to mention my own project watching the pop up cpu/h window metering its soley i/o thats maxing on playback not the core metering..... also if this means getting a firewire external hd for the logic projects I only have a firewire 800 slot left to use on machine, how would you then back up this drive with logic projects on it?????

IM having fierce difficulty trying to finish a track, I have now about 12 tracks/channels in total-each of these are by now frozen.... I froze one by one as I "finished with inserts on the channel working on" this cpu and hd spike problem has been here since I began the project, I used google last night and today and read as much as I could with people with same issues...... Its logic 9.1.8 on mavericks on a mid2007 imac- basically while the track is loop and while I was adding in a plugin the cpu/h meters would peak, Id get a blast of noise from my monitors and the play of the project would t hen halt, I get error -10010 mostly "the sudden motion sensor may have parked the hard drive head, or the disk performance is not sufficient to read and write all audio trakcs, or the systme was not able to process all the data in time" sometimes this error is joined by error-10011-"the audio engine was not able to process all the required data in time" I have 3 aux with about 4 plugs each slotted into them...... Now on reading google results I tried the online zip download of the logic 9 bench test; which is a project with lots of tracks, with the same 4 apple plugins, and you unmute track by track until ur machine cant handle anymore; this was not good.............My machine could only run about 8 of these tracks, before observing the meter pop up window: the 2 cores cpu meters spiked causing halt so thats prob means my machine is not great but I havre to point out before mavericks under snow leopard and before that again using logic 8 on leopard I used this machine with a higher track count freezing and unfrezzing and numerous auxs in play this has not happened I think thats a big point I want to make, perhaps it is not my machine......... Ive 4 gb ram(max for imac2007) this issue has only come about since installing mavericks but I could be wrong...... In my current track the 12 or so tracks are all now freezed.......... This I gather means logic streams 32 bit files form the hhd-at this point I need to add I use only the internal system hdd for everything logic related; I was not aware you can run logic prtojects of external drives in tandem, things I have tried are disconnecting my motu interface and using built in input and output no differnce, Im kinda annoyed this never used to happen before and now suddenly it does, I have 100 gb free space left...... Is it down to 12 freezed tracks bottle necking my machine in this momment of time or is there other weird stuff that could be happening needing dealt with first?

I must read up about caf so, that kinda lenght is only needed For dj mixes right now which i only use The corresponding mp3 that saves.... Anyway... Never heard of that file type before... I did somehow read in a alternative manufacturers audio editer something About a 4 gb max for wav... Unfortuently my recording stopping early is 2gb... Theres is definitely no way Of regaining whats lost in the rest of The recording is there?? Obviously the only thing i could attempt Was dragging the end of the audio Region, to a longer position but that doesnt Happen, so is that that for what ive lost For last hour and half? I was recording a dj mix other day into loigc 9.1.8 on an audio track, it got as far as 2hrs twenty mins and stopped recording, I lost a good hour and half after this.. why is this limitation there, the recording was in aif, is aif the reason the file stopped at this lenght, for longer recordings, how long can you get out of caf, is caf a high quality loseless file type etc? I only want to bounce a dj mix as mp3 anyway where the audio stopped at the 2hr twenty min mark, is it at all possible to somehow regain what was lost after it seemed to stop, wishfully thinking the audio after this stop point, would not be in any folder or something ?

Good morning Eric, from my side; ) That has seemed to work which is excellent, hurdle one-jumped!-thanks to u!! I went into prefs>audio>.... output device was my motu interface... Im pretty sure trying to recall but could be wrong, that input selection box was not visible-I could be wrong on that.. basically fumblin thru it, I swapped output to built in output applied changes and then swapped back to " motu"(as motu was the orig selection)& applied changes......thats the funny thing> I didnt even adjust input device and it was this point I realised I altered OUTPUT, not; INPUT and saw the next line had motu as INPUT anyway>that made me think this was not showing up when I first opened the prefs but I could be wrong but in fact I didnt alter INPUT closed, prefs and the inputs are no longer greyed & I can select freely between different inputs now, and visibly receiving a signal from an external source now!

Hi yesterday I installed Logic Studio(9) for the first time, all went smooth; I opened a project using 9 and recorded some audio through my motu audio interface into its inputs 7&8 and the audio recording session all went fine! ...today I followed software update of Logic studio, to 9.1.8 Now I cant get audio "to run into Logic" Im well use to the recording audio process from Logic 8, I have input enabled or record enabled....etc but since the update, in yesterdays session, the input options in audio channel are greyed out "stuck" where it was set at 7&8(greyed out) and there is no audio signal on opening a new blank project to access, there is no inputs channels AT ALL available only bus selection options as input.... so this is my first stumbling block with Logic studio, Im a couple of operating systems back: Snow leopard 10.6.8 this was fine yesterday with the initial install like i said, help needed already! Mac OS X (10.6.8)
