  1. It is possible in 10.4.5. Go to Event Edit. Select CC events, use transform to convert controller status to "Fader". Channel and Data Byte 1 can be scrolled up or down in the event list. As you do so, you will see the plugin parameters appropriately named, pretty sweet. Take that information, go back to transform, and voila, CC to automation. You can also setup real time transforms in the environment to take CC data and convert to useable automation as it is being received. Use IAC buss in and out to record CC of any modulator, works great, gets around AU BS. NOTE1 the automation data is shown as events, it does NOT show up in the automation lanes, personally, I like this better. Then I can do transforms on the data. NOTE2 if you switch instruments in the track, the written automation events seem to disappear! Undo retrieves them, copy/paste allows you to move them to different instruments. As a developer why wouldn't you use the same CC modulation system. Just use numbers outside of the goofy Midi 0-127 range.
  2. Can't find anything on this but I'd really like to be able to put some LFO modulation on my smart controls, but can't see how to do it. I suspect it can't be done. Why do I want to do this? Smart controls provide a quick way to map plugin controls giving me an "API" abstraction layer. More importantly, smart controls have curves that allow non linear parameter mappings to be smoothed out and matched with smart control knobs. Ie. 50% on smart control = 50% application on the plugin.
  3. 14 day return policy, I'm ordering a MacBook Pro and test it out. I don't have massive processing needs, but speed is always appreciated. Running more concurrent projects and more programs than Logic is helpful. I really would like to see networked Logic so I can take advantage of these unused laptops.
  4. It was admittedly a long night after a long day. I put Q-Swing to 50% which I assume is "null", ie. don't push or pull the quantize. It indeed disappears at that point. I had thought it had to be zero to disappear. This solved some issues I was having with my audio quantizing. Separately, yes, my comp swiping menu on the take regions had disappeared! I removed my controller settings file (I can recreate "easily" or bring it back in and see.
  5. 6 years later, this happened to me. I had to move my controller settings file out of the way and then all was good. Also, my quick swipe comping menus (scissor/comp) were not there! Baffling.
  6. That is very encouraging and making me consider the Macbook Pro, the portability for travel is unbeatable. TB3 makes it so perfectly expandable. The only downside is the 32GB, admittedly I'm getting by with 16 right now but more main memory = more better as everything can be cached for longer. How many VI + processed audio are you running concurrently? (I'm assuming that unprocessed audio is very low and not worth considering).
  7. This has been a very informative thread. I am trying to wait for the new MP 2019 on my MBP 2013. This discussion helped me decide that an iMP 8 will last me 3 years easily and could tide me over. 64GB, 2TB also seems to be the ticket. MPG has great articles with sober analysis: https://macperformanceguide.com/idx-mpg.html?dglyTOC=iMac
  8. Helpful a year later. I know a lot of info has move to youtube, which is unbeatable for discovery. But when you need a quick answer this site continues to provide great value.
  9. Just 7 short years later this answer solved my problem. Wow!
  10. This post is still useful! I just made a bunch of polyrhythm and polymetric metronomes for myself using the "count quarters, stretch to 1 bar, merge" technique, perfecto!
  11. I come from the future with advice for anyone stuck in the past! I tried to install all Alchemy sounds through the dreaded Sound Library under "Logic Pro X" drop down menu. I constantly got the message "Logic Pro X was unable to complete the download." It failed on Alchemy Sound Libraries: Atmospheric, Basic Additions, Cinematic, Dance. YMMV. This started 3 mos ago on 3 separate machines. It was not the network, of this I'm certain. I know, I traced it to the akamai caching servers. Trust me, longer story. Suddenly, June 2017, it completes on 2 of my machines. Why? Here's my speculation, I had downloaded all the sounds, reinstalled the library, it picked up the sound ".pkg" files and installed them. Honestly, pure luck. Here's another path to goodness that worked on my 3rd Alchemy(less) machine. Download the files using "Sound Library". Do it multiple times. You may notice that after repeated downloads you have downloaded more data than is necessary! Yes, that's a bug. The files go into some facsimile of this directory: /private/var/folders/8g/2rnfns8j1279m26rpdn3r3hc0000gp/C/com.apple.MusicApps/audiocontentdownload.apple.com/lp10_ms3_content_2016 Again, YMMV! But using iterm, you can find it. Once you "Cancel" all the downloads it will clean out that directory, so don't do it. Once in there, this command: sudo installer -pkg /path/to/package.pkg -target / ...will get it into Alchemy. Replace "package.pkg" with a "for loop" around *Alchemy*.pkg in the above directory. I'm not going explain sudo, or terminal, or using the shell to get to these directories. That is left as an exercise to the reader. I'm just trying to drop some breadcrumbs for anyone stuck in this install HELL. BTW, Alchemy is amazing and worth it.
