  1. So this solution stopped working for me after a while. I have no idea why but I needed to select the following - Setting>MIDI>Reset Messages>Control 1 (Modulation) to zero I checked that particular box and it's fine again. So the combination of those two things works now! p.s. the modulation automation script is awesome!
  2. Hey man, no I haven't. I don't have any assignments. It's not actually playback related, it's to do with messages, or behaviour, that Logic implements after CC58 messages within CSS. At least thats what I can assume. The above 'hack' seems to be working. Although CSS will only play the first note occasionally when cycling a couple of bars. Other than that things are normal.
  3. Ok, I believe I've fixed this after a couple of hours of trail and error, pure hatred and tension. The attached screen grabs work, I think. I'm off to have a coffee(beer) and a walk(sleep).
  4. So, it isn't anything to do with playback. As soon as I click on a note in the piano roll, which is assigned an articulation, Logic annoyingly reverts back to legato. Logic is sending some form of CC message after articulation set messages on CC58 are triggered. Infuriating!
  5. haha thanks, I wish I could take credit but I found it in the Vienna Symphonic Library Forum, someone having a similar problem. I wish I could recreate it in Sampler, however, I haven't used it for years so would probably take me hours to figure out! I've noticed something with my new 'Dummy' art. set. If I set the Dummy selector to 58 the problem happens regardless of other notes triggering. If I set the selector to '-' then the problem only happens when other notes that are assigned an articulation are triggered. So, when other articulations are triggered the articulation set is still defaulting back to the original 'legato' articulation which was first on my list and the dummy is ignored. If not - fine. I think my next step is to create the articulation set from scratch and see if that fixes the problem. Thanks! Edit: Just to clarify the problem, this is what I found in the VSL Forum:
  6. Hey David & yes correct, playback seems to change the articulation to the first on my list when 'note on'. Thanks for the reply 🙂 As soon as I hit a key on my controller, legato is selected, which is the first articulation on the list. I've partially solved the problem by creating a 'dummy' articulation which is placed first in the list with no values in the output section... This works when the playback moves outside of a region, but if I'm using my articulation set on notes within a region, CSS is again reverting to the first articulation on my list - legato. I've attached my updated art. set, which I edited in textedit to place the 'dummy' first. Many thanks!
  7. Hey, thanks for the reply. This is good info. I've never delved into scripting with Logic but seen it all over the place online so it's something I'll look into. Thanks! I've discovered that this problem doesn't happen if I turn my articulation set off. I tried replacing the articulation set from an older Time Machine backup - it's still bugging out. Here's some screen grabs of the articulation set. Is there anything glaring that I'm doing wrong? Would a preferences reset in Logic fix this or would that throw more elements out of whack and lose settings? Cheers!
  8. I'm having a strange problem where my articulations are being reset in CSS. I use an articulation set I've built using CC58 to change articulations via the piano roll. Not sure how long this has been happening, as I've been using mouse input for a couple of days on my laptop, but when I press a key after playback articulations are changing. That always change to the default 'sustain' articulation. My initial thought is that my controller (Arturia Keylab 61) is sending CC message with note on. Ive checked the Arturia MIDI console in their software and its looks to be sending only Note On/Off. Does anyone know why this is happening. Is there a way to check what my controller is doing in Logic? I recently tried the CSS Control Panel script for Kontakt so I wonder if thats upset things... Many thanks! Edit - this only happens after and during playback. I can change articulations manually in Kontakt and note on doesn't affect the articulations on CC58. As soon as the playhead moves, the articulation changes.
  9. This was driving me crackers in CSS. Every time I used modulation data the piano roll would go silent when clicking and moving notes etc. Took a while to find this so thank you!
  10. Awesome, thank you very much. Some of the categories aren't as fleshed out as they once were - I don't know why but its not far off where I had it. Whilst we're talking about the plug-in manager. Is it possible to create custom 'shortcuts'? Eg. If I have a kontakt instrument, can we somehow put them in the plug in menus and rename it instead of just the Kontakt player? Or does that have to be done through channel strip settings? Many thanks!
  11. Hi all, Not sure how I've done this but all of my 'user' folders have disappeared in my plug in and instrument menus. I spent a long time organising things to suit my workflow so as you can imagine its pretty frustrating. Is there a way to restore previous plug in manager settings? I have time machine running so can call back older dated preferences or versions of Logic etc. Many thanks!
  12. Hey dude, I can post some more info later. I’ve rebuilt the project without anything Roland and all seems fine. Think I’m just going to steer clear of them unfortunately. It doesn’t seem like a CPU thing as I have a pretty powerful computer and run some massive projects. It’s only when I intoroduce the Roland stuff, specifically the D50 that things go awry. It’s like the midi for the vsts is thrown out of synchronisation but I don’t know what settings could fix that! The weird things is that the sloppyness is consistent. Like a switch is suddenly thrown and things go out of whack to a different setting. Thanks man
  13. Hey everyone, I'm experiencing some strange midi playback issues. I first noticed it with the Roland D-50 plugin and the JV-1080 and now Omnisphere is behaving in a similar way. Its hard to tell if anything else is affected but drums seem to be ok. Things seem to be ok, then there is a slight glitch in playback and then tightness of MIDI playback is lost. Things sound sloppy and notes missed etc. I can fix the problem but reloading the plugins (doesn't always work) and resetting MIDI drivers (doesn't always work). My current project is small. 4/5 tracks of MIDI, hardly any mixing just a couple of reverbs a limiter on master bus. Its really weird and making songwriting extremely difficult. I can't think of any other solutions as I'm no MIDI expert, any help would be hugely appreciated! Many thanks
  14. Sure, thanks for the help. I'm learning stuff here
  15. Ok, just did some quick butchering of a copy of the project. 4 instances of Arturia Clav shaved off 1.6gb 1 instance of Arturia Synclavier shaved off 1.25gb ...and then things started behaving a bit more normally, felt like old times. Looks like I know what soft synths I'll be steering clear of. Shame as they sound freakin great!
  16. This is interesting. I’ll do some experimenting and get back to you. Thanks for all the help so far!
  17. Actually, there's something strange happening. The folder size says 2.6gb but the Logic project inside is saying 5.2gb?!?
  18. Hey, I've tried unchecking 'audio files and 'sampler audio data' and that's got it down to 2.6gb - I'm getting somewhere. Its still really slow to save (apple+S style) and doesn't seem normal to be that large for a track with only 40 MIDI instruments? Do you think I'm asking too much from my computer or do I have an unreasonably large file size for some unexplained reason?
  19. Hi all, after much googling and searching and experimenting I thought it was about time I reached out here. I'm at the verge of completion on a composition and all of a sudden Logic has become ridiculously slow, painfully so... The project is no larger (in number of tracks and MIDI information) than a lot of my other projects but for some reason the file size is 7gb whereas my usual projects are usually under 1gb. I'm using Spectrasonics, Arturia and Korg software instruments and only 1 track of Audio! Saving is extremely slow, as is loading the project and also any kind of audio device changes. I've noticed Arturias Clav V takes a long time to load on initiation. Things I've tried so far: Stripping plugins from the mix and most bus mixing. Taking any kind of mastering off. Unplugging all external devices - hard drives etc. Using Internal iMac sound device and headphone output Running everything off my SSD on the iMac including sample instruments. Updating all software including plugins Deleted 'com.apple.audiounits.cache' from Library/Caches/AudioUnitCache I don't think what I'm doing in the track itself should warrant such a massive change in Logic's behaviour. I'm wondering if I've activated anything weird that could cause this... If anyone has had any kind of similar problems help would be massively appreciated. I can't see a way of rebuilding the track to get around this! I'm running - Mojave 10.14.6 Logic 10.5.1 iMac Late 2015, 4ghz, i7, 32gb Ram Many thanks
  20. Hi guys, I'm new here but have latency head scratching issues going on! Heres what's going on - I'm recording my Korg Mono/Poly straight into Logic X 10.5 via the Saffire 6USB on a new project with no plugins running. I have a tubbutec Modypoly installed and using Logic to trigger the MIDI (and also playing the MIDI in has the same latency effect) I have 'pinged' my interface for latency and returns a +151 samples discrepancy so have offset the recording delay compensation by -151 samples. The problem arises that I still have latency with recording the Mono/Poly even though the MIDI is recording fine. Even more frustratingly, if I try to offset the 'All MIDI output' delay manually I get inconsistent results so can't nail a tight result. I've attached a screen grab to illustrate the inconsistency of -13ms Midi delay. Any advice on tips with this relatively simple workflow problem would be greatly appreciated!
