revdave
Hi folks, I'm curious about migrating Logic 9 files into LPX When you open LP9 file you have option of - folder or package… In my case - I already have the file in a folder right where I want it - so my goal is just to creature the new song.logicx file - if I choose folder it makes a new folder and subs and puts the file in there - if I choose package it creates the file where I want it with no extra stuff Q: Assuming I do not check anything below on import like add audio exs etc…. --- IS THE CREATED .LOGICX FILE THE EXACT SAME WHETHER IT IS A 'FOLDER' OR 'PACKAGE'? or is the 'package' version somehow different in some way? I ask because I have many old songs to update and want to get it right the first time...
revdave
still curious about this... (just want to make sure the logic file is exactly the same under both conditions) JUST LOOKED…. - the folders can be IN or OUT of the logicx FILE.... I looked inside package contents of logicx file and it has the empty Media folder and the empty folders within that inside - so I guess I do NOT want to save as package.... ( just wanted to make sure the logic file is exactly the same under both conditions )

( just wanted to make sure the logic file is exactly the same under both conditions ) Thanks, BackUp your projects before doing this. LpX asks you 'open' the duplicate project if you copy projects to a renamed folder, and open them. I don't open the backup projects! 20 Most Recent in Logic Menu used alongside spotlight logic searches, Last opened date within last [0 ] days. Gives Todays opened projects. Name contains Start. Opened them LpX suggests the original name, this is fine the new file is logicx... I add 9X to the suggested name and accept the save. Here x added instead of 9X. This is older history. History: I've spent the last couple of weeks opening Lp9 projects and re-saving some to a new LpX projects folder. Others that have a lot of assets included within the project folder have been opened with LpX and saved in the original Lp9 project folder. New songs have been created through various LpX updates. I open Packages from GarageBand and save them as Folders. 'Save As' is used a lot. Logics AutoSave disabled on Lp9. LpX seems to have picked up the setting. revdave
Thanks for the help.. ALSO - when I open LP9 in X the very first save (just file no audio or samples etc.) usually takes a long time (15 or more seconds) - even with simple midi only files - but then subsequent open/saves are faster. Is this Normal?
DaveRobinson
Hi First 'Save As' using the menu logic demo project saved to external FW disk as comparison benchmark.
