Audio Units - double in plugin manager

Some plugins are rescanning on startup then in logic x appear double. I've deleted cache , restarted etc. example is 2c audio, Uvi falcon and workstation . They work fine just however it keeps on rescanning and appears double. Anyone else seeing this . High Sierra , latest Logic X .

i've seen this before, but not recently. does rebooting your mac change anything? (for me, there are 2 plugin folders that i can never delete...)

Rebooting doesn't help. Deleting audio units cache ( caches that I know of) , doesn't help either. I'm thinking it's a high sierra issue with some plugins. Plugins are not coming up double in ableton live however, so logic x specific.

 

Any solutions to this appreciated.

are you seeing this in the plugin manager? or in dropdown menus in a channel strip?

But the real annoying thing is when logic starts it rescans those double plugins. Takes a couple of minutes to start ( what it seems like it takes ) instead of a few seconds.

I have the same issue on High Sierra. No solution yet. Have you reported it to Apple?

Good to know its a high Sierra / logic problem. I haven't reported it to Apple. How do you report Logic issues to Apple?

am on high sierra (and have run all the betas), and am not having that problem. in fact, i've never seen dupes in the menus, only within the plugin manager (and not in a long time). so, not sure what's happening for you...

That's odd then, not sure what it is or what to do. I've deleted the audio unit cache, and did a fresh rescan but it still happens. UVI workstation is an example. Has anyone got that plugin on high sierra they can check. It appears duplicate in plugin manager, it rescans every logic start, and in the plugin selection menu it appears once as UVI Workstation , but has two Stereo selections in the sub menu of the plugin selection menu of UVI Workstation. It should only have one stereo selection as it does in Live. It's all good in Live, it doesn't rescan everytime .

is that the only problem plugin? how many au's does it have in the audio>components folder? and, just to check, look in both the main library folder and your home>library>audio>components folder. just a thought...

No about 20 or so other ones. I've only got AUs in library/audio/components , not in home directory. 2c-audio plugins, Falcon are other example. I'm not sure if another cache exists I can delete. I've deleted all audio unit caches I can find.

wish i could help. might be worth contacting apple, there are logic support peeps... unless someone else here has any ideas (there are people way more qualified than me on this forum).

If anyone has latest non beta high sierra and logic x installed with UVI Workstation ( free version available ) would appreciate if your seeing this plugin twice in plugin manager, twice in the plugin selection for its outputs , and if when logic x starts it rescans UVI Workstation.

Same issue. There must be something in some plugs that sets this behavior off in the new OS. I've tried old versions of auval tool, force au validation utility, re-scan etc. The only thing that puts it normal is to remove the plugs that do this. To be clear, the ones that re-scan always list twice in the plugin manager. Once blank and one with the scanning info if both are "re-scanned".  The plugs do work fine however once loaded, so it is more of a nuisance than anything else. If anyone want to check, the DMG plugins pack are one of the offenders. Valhalla vintage Verb and even Amplitube 4 also does it on mine. But I have hundreds that are fine too.

UVI know about it and have said they will release an update very soon. i can confirm xgmans list of plugins is having the issue on my setup as well

then definitely worth approaching those developers with that info...

'talked' with one developer; probably an apple issue, so let's see if they sort it out soon(ish). i just reported it on the logic feedback page...

I hope this is remedied in a LPX update and that's that. Some of the older plugs will never get updated.

I use both Logic Pro X and Ableton Live Suite, the AU plugins that are doubled in both. Arturia Spark and Roland Promars showing up doubled.

Amplitude 4 plugin is causing me problems and 2 instances show up in Logic? All my other Plugs Logic is fine. Once I remove the AU Component, Logic does not rescan? IKMultimedia have no answers?

The bug is fixed in High Sierra 10.13.2 update

I can report the latest update to High Sierra has sorted out my doubling of AU Plugins and the rescanning every time I opened LPX?
