Mr. V
Seems to be a plug-in incompatibility issue in 64 bit mode vs with L9.1.7. All AU were moved to a Components (disabled) folder. Start up-no problem. Added a few AU back in- no problem. Not sure if this was a factor, but I also uninstalled Automap 4.
Mr. V
All plug-ins added back in and running fine in either 32 bit or 64 bit mode. The only difference is that Automap is not reinstalled. Can anyone comment if AM is related to rescanning issues?

Mr. V
Jordito, Many thanks for this informative link. I'll provide an update when I reinstall Automap.
Mr. V
Fresh install of Automap 4.3 and plug-ins wrapped in the finest silk satin... er, uh, 32 bit mode = 64 bit mode is better with only 41 plug-ins that would need to be scanned each time: all Nomad Factory, all Native Instruments, Nectar, and RX2 Advanced. Manually starting Automap before Logic didn't change anything. Unwrapping the above in 64 bit mode = for now
