viento Posted January 17, 2014 Share Posted January 17, 2014 After upgrading to 10.0.5 with the new EQ graphical interface, the EQ is spiking my CPU usage and is very slow, sluggish, and unresponsive. I believe this problem is related to the graphics, because I'm on a 13" late 2014 Retina MacBook Pro, and when I drag the EQ to an external monitor, it works flawlessly. The attached screenshots show the problem. I am repeating a region from the "Helena Beat" Logic Pro X Demo song, and you'll see the CPU spike when the EQ is active on my laptop screen. Then, when I drag the EQ off to my external TV (via HDMI connection), the CPU usage stops. NOTE: these CPU spikes also occur when the external monitor is NOT connected. Are you using External FW Disks for Logic Projects? What Audio Device? The "Helena-Beat" demo is copied to 800 External FW Disk 7200rpm Disk here? Its improved here with later releases. There's other issues related to this. OSX/Logic updates is the only fix for some. The good news is sometimes changing trackpad/mouse settings or a very simple fix, works! Routines help! I Open the mbp then Mains on, ExtFWdisk powers up, speakers power on, boot up mbp. Logic open 48k project then 44.1k. Closing logic.. OSX mbp Desktop now performs well. Safari is open with Logic sometimes, rare. Trackpad/Mouse functions 'core' to many dysfunctions in OS X and Logic. I still run l9.1.8 alongside LpX but 'reverted' to l9.1.5 and liked it. Battery changes in Keyboard/Mouse routines? Turning off unneeded processes happens straight after install and new features tamed as released, eventually turned off. Mission Control has 1 Desktop Not 4. When it's lean and you turn off Time Machine 'Back Up Now' from the menu makes a lot of difference, you feel? it. Silence occurs, regularly. BackUp reminders! The system performs better! TrackPad/Mouse settings are global a slight change can make a vast difference overall, same goes for Settings in general. Small change can be the fix! logic 10.0.6 App duplicated backed up, ready for next update. When the Upgrade arrives be ready for it. All seems ok here. Benchmark method. CommandSpacebar Logic Return Open No Mouse. goto Menu > Logic Pro X > help > Logic Pro Demo Project, and open it. Don't Start Playback. Once opened, Press Shift-Comm-S then Right Arrow Key places the curser at the end of the 'Save As' song name ready for you to add your version id. -EQ . Save to your Logic Project disk.. To quickly create Screenset 2 Mixer Press key 2 then Command-2 Clicking on the Main window beneath the mixer brings the main window to the top, press Command-W to close it. Click the zoom button green + to enlarge the Mixer window. To toggle the Control bar I use custom key command Ctrl-Opt-Command-Shift-T To view CPU-HD activity you may need to customise the Control bar.
