Some EXS instrument electric basses have slide samples on velocities 124 to 127 (Aggressive fretless, fretless, Liverpool, Motown, Slapped electric, Subby)

If they don't and you want a fretted slide then the pitchwheel isn't right, as that will be stepless. You have to make short successive midi notes by hand. Can be a bit of work, but the advantage is that you can control every aspect of the slide, pitch, span, timing, dynamics, etcetera.
