leeguirado
what does surround format mean in logic? is there a noticeable difference between the different types?
David Nahmani
Surround is a technique using more than the 2 speakers used for stereo sound. The different types use different number of speakers and different speaker placements. Keep in mind you'll need that specific number of amps and speakers (or powered speakers) and that numer of outputs on your audio interface to monitor surround mixes, and your listeners also need the same surround set up. leeguirado
so if my logic format is set to 5.1 and i have two monitors to the left and right, is this the correct setup?

If you only have two monitors, you're working in Stereo, not in surround. Therefore it doesn't matter what your surround settings are. Atlas007
If you are looking for "surround effect" but on a regular stereo audio system, you might find binaural interesting.
