Assessor
Ok, this is of course all speculation, but… If you gather information that is floating around the net you can, among other things, learn that Apple has applied for patents regarding Polyphonic note detection (maybe a contender for Melodyne DNA) and Automated mixing. Since LPX introduced "Drummer" I think it's also easy to see a future for other "musicians" like "Piano player" and "Bassman" etc. Removing the chord track function may also point in the direction of an enhanced solution for entering chords and building arrangements. Think "Band-in-a-box", or really, don't think "Band-in-a-box". And since Apple required Redmatica technology (of which we have seen nada in LPX so far) there is no long shot to suggest that there are lots of LPX-related technologies that thrive in the Apple laboratories. With the release of LPX, after four long years, I think Apple has laid the foundation with a basic offering that will attract many user. On top of that they can add in-app-purchases to LPX to enable the pros and prosumers to select among a growing plethora of opportunities like "Visually-assisted mixing", "Bassman" and "Super Simple Sample Tool Pro". Or…?
Eric Cardenas
I really don't think so. If and when polyphonic Flex Pitch is ready it will be included in an update.
Atlas007
This is indeed very possible. One could just add modules à la Calamus... On the other hand, it is also possible that the pending enhancements are quite demanding CPU-wise, and Apple is waiting that their new breed of computer hit the market to fully take advantage of them. Some kind of synergetic marketing. Maybe a combination of both, since Logic is radically cheap compared to its competitors. Or is that to push the sale of its hardware? All in all, pretty hard to tell...
lookatthisguy
If that winds up happening, they should name "Piano Player" after me, 'cause it'll get the job done, but won't be all that spectacular.
