  1. I would *not* keep it in the application folder! Or zip it up if I did. I remember one update where that copied and renamed version got updated. Still no idea whether it was my fault or not, but ever since I copy the application and move it out of the application folder.
  2. No idea, by default it's systemwide for Mission Control. On my MBA at least (didn't change any defaults by now).
  3. And btw, I just tried to use the trackpad as a level/pan scrolling device, doesn't work very smoothly, to put it quite carefully. But then, as it's a trackpad, all you need to do instead is press it anyway, the movement stays the same, so there's no big advance anyway.
  4. Ok, I had a look inside Logic and in the relevant system settings. There's one option called "ignore integrated trackpad once a mouse is connected" and I was full of hope that might've been it, but it's not. I tried some more vague things as well, all to no avail. Hence it seems they messed with this function yet again.
  5. All fine, at least now I know. Maybe they've indeed changed something in order to support trackpads better. Or to make people buy trackpads...
  6. That was sort of what I remember. I completely skipped all 6.x versions and only went back with V7 when their computers were starting to get decent again (as in making the switch from PPC to Intel). Fortunately, I should add, because most of 6.x was a desaster IMO. And fwiw, at the time Emagic was bought, tons of people were switching from Apple to Windows boxes, simply because the 5.x versions were running *way, way, way* better under Windows (hence some pretty sour feelings). I even couldn't believe it myself how lame of a duck that G5 was that I had to configure for the local music university's media lab, compared to my homegrown PC, slapped together by pretty cheap components. During that time, I almost switched back to Cubase, simply because I couldn't justify shelling out tons of money for a machine that'd be slower and less reliable than what I already had. But fortunately, Apple made the Intel switch and that little Macbook was good for an experience comparable to my new MBA.
  7. I think the small ones defenitely weren't, and as des99 said, the ES1 had to be purchased, too. I think that only happened with V7, but I might be wrong. And Space Designer defenitely is a genuine Mac-only plugin.
  8. Fwiw, maybe Apple's iPad ad was only a somewhat late revenge for this...
  9. My bad then (and I didn't look for those on the PC I had to deal with last year). Still, I quite like their UIs. I also prefered the old EXS24 UI over the new Sampler one, btw. But as the new features possibly wouldn't have fitted into the old one, I understand it that it had to be renewed. Still feels like letting an old friend go. Got to be by far my most used plugin of all the time without any doubt. I used to sample other plugins within Cubase (especially before Logic had instrument plugin support), loop the samples in WaveLab and create a metric ton of EXS instruments (basically doing everything Autosampler does manually). Was pretty much worth the effort as I could run like 500 sampled voices in times when folks using the sampled plugins natively managed to run like 10-20 voices before their machines crapped out.
  10. Last time I used it was around a year ago. And yes, I still liked it - but I only opened it to make an old 4.x project transferable. From all I remember, these never existed under Logic/Win. There's been ES1, EXS, EVP, EVB, EVC (not sure it was named that), ES2. The "tiny synths" came later. And talking about those, their UIs are absolutely fine, just some labels could do with a bit more contrast and less pixelization.
  11. Oh btw, is there any place where I could get ahold of the various Logic versions between 10.5.1 (last working one on my MP) and 10.8.1 (the one available when I bought my MBA)? Could check the scrollwheel behaviour myself that way.
  12. For many parts, I would absolutely love that. Maybe with better resolution, though. I still prefer the Logic 9 looks over LPX. And I liked 5.5.1/Win the most of them all, even if it was lacking some things (such as a dedicated mixer window).
  13. Maybe someone with 10.8.1 could crosscheck. Defenitely not working for me. I did import my old preferences - but that shouldn't have much (if anything) to do with it. And as far as it working in the mixer goes, I'm sure it worked in Logic <9, or even in some 9.x version (not in 9.1.8, though, just checked). From all I remember, it really didn't get much in the way of scrolling, maybe it was smart enough to read out the mouse position. I mean, it's doing so when you have a plugin opened, too. As long as you're over the plugin UI, the scrollwheel is used for parameter adjustments.
