jimrobson183
When I create a new Instrument track (definitely NOT an audio track) in Logic Pro X there is no Instrument slot.
des99
Right click on the track, select Channel Strip Components and tick "Input / Instrument" to show that channel strip feature.
jimrobson183
Des, "Input / Instrument" was already checked as shown in my attached image.
des99
Hmm, strange! Can you delete all the tracks in your project except that one, save out a copy (without any media), zip/compress it and attach it here? I'll take a look...

Hi @jimrobson183 , did you end up figuring this one out? If not, feel free to attach a copy of your project here as des99 suggested, or we can try other things. Let us know, thanks! https://www.logicprohelp.com/forum/topic/121052-how-to-attach-files-to-your-post/
Solution jimrobson183 Posted May 21, 2022 Author Solution Share Posted May 21, 2022 David, I deleted all tracks except the one with the faulty strip and its Instrument slot suddenly appeared. I will now await your response, cap'n.
David Nahmani
How weird! I can't explain it. But at least it's working, so good for you — and thanks for letting us know what resolved it for you. If the problem ever comes back, do report back and attach the project file so that we can have a closer look. For now I'll mark this as solved. polanoid
I wonder why it says "Inst 1-2" on the top of your channel strip. What would that even mean?

So there used to a be a setting in Logic Pro to toggle off: "Universal Track Mode", to make it compatible with older Pro Tools project which handled stereo channels as two mono channel strips. It sounds like that is the culprit here, however I'm not sure if that setting still exist or not in Logic Pro. But I would think that's the culprit as one channel strip has the instrument and the other doesn't (so that you have one stereo instrument on two mono channel strips). I would try to create a new empty project and see if the problem is the same? Or is it only in this specific project?
polanoid
Good old Universal Track Mode wasn't this for Audio Tracks only? Edited May 23, 2022 by polanoid
