GregManning
Is it just me, or is the score section in Logic really buggy? I’m on page 4 of a simple lead sheet and each time I insert a section name like “Shout Chorus” with the text tool, that name mysteriously appears on page 1 and at a different location on page 4. Over the years I’ve had these kind of glitches on 3 different computers and several versions of Logic, but they’re still here. Don’t get me wrong. I love the program, but these elementary glitches are annoying! Am I doing something wrong, or this is a known issue in Logic? If so, why does it stay unaddressed? How because so much is not intuitive, you must learn how to use it or you will face frustration. I decided to use it long ago ( coming from Finale) because I wanted one piece of software to do it all..... Here we are 10 years later and this is all I use.... This site and the few of use here that know the score editor inside and out, are an excellent resource and will get you over those first few frustration points. While at times I had to be a little creative - there is nothing I have been shown or asked to do that I could not achieve in the Score editor. There is also no program better for real time transcription... blows away everything I have ever used... but again you have to take your time and learn the key parts and understand how things work.... one simple example.... Think of the score as writing on a piece of paper ( not graphical placement).... In finale if I put a quarter note on beat 2 and want to put a half note in front of it.. I just drag and drop it in front....and it all shifts... But on paper, I would have to move the quarter not over to beat 3 to make room for the the half note in front of it...... works exactly the same way in logic. Can I copy and insert in Logic ( yes but it is a special command) - and there are plenty of those. But if someone tries the finale way of doing it and gets unexpected results, folks quickly say - oh well it's a bug.... no it isn't! as Music Spirit indicated - it is only those that take the time to learn it - will soon become proficient in its use. I think Confucius said that...... So it is up to you grasshopper!
 This is one thing that I wish had a dedicated visual indicator as I always forget what division I am on globally and have to Toggle the Transport to see it. Also like the way your video moves rests around and puts in notes quicker than dragging them from the Inspector or selecting the division in the Inspector and then having to Toggle on and off Step Input. Though my workaround for this is to drag a note of the division I wish into a bar and then Option Drag copy it elsewhere and then with Duration Bar switched on drag the length shorter or longer or use KC to lengthen shorten note. Your innovation brings Logic closer to writing notes like conventional Score programmes and surely this would not be expensive to implement in terms of writing code for a future update? It must be to do with the market and brand image that those at the helm of Logic development are focussed on - which seems to exclude 'Primp My Score Editor' Puzzles me you couldnt develop a thread of Logic's brand identity aimed at making it more film composer/orchestral score friendly...
