Louis_francis
Hi Guys, So i have a MPD218 and i am trying to map one of the pads to turn the low cut option on and off, but whenever i try this i have to hold it for it to stay on, is there a way i can do this with the touch of a button? Thanks in advance
David Nahmani
Yes, that's possible. Let's have a look at your assignment: choose Logic Pro > Control Surfaces > Controller Assignment, locate that specific pad assignment you just made, select it and take a screenshot so that we can see all the data in the right column of that window. Now attach that screenshot here: How to attach files to your post

David Nahmani
Yes! Ok try to change that value by deleting the Hi7 D9 Lo7 part. See if that helps?
Louis_francis
Unfortunately David that hasn't worked
des99
I don't think you really want to received a note *and* aftertouch event - you need to look at the MIDI message your button sends, and set your MIDI input message to respond to that. Louis_francis
Ok, How would i do that?
des99
You can edit the Value Change box manually and just type in the values that you need. I have no idea what MIDI messages your controller is sending, so you'll to figure that out by either editing the device with it's editor software and seeing what messages have been assigned to the button you are using, or checking it's manual, or monitoring it's MIDI output using something like Snoize's MIDI Monitor... David Nahmani
Unfortunately David that hasn't worked Can you scroll down and show the bottom of the right column (as you can see from the scrollbar on the very right edge of your screenshot we can see only the top of the parameters). enossified
The MPD pads will send either note messages or program change messages, no other messages (such as CCs) are possible. The aftertouch per pad can be turned off. This is all shown in the QuickStart Guide.
Louis_francis
I have looked in the quick guide setup and there is nothing in there, i've played with the editor, and still nothing, the pad stays lit if that means anything... The Mode parameter is set to Scaled: try to use Toggle instead?
Louis_francis
I have done this David, and something strange has happened, so when i do this now, it does turn the low cut on but i then have to press another pad for it to be able to turned off, so what happens is, i press the pad to turn it on then press the pad next to it then i press the pad its assigned to, to turn it off, as opposed to just using it to turn on and off, is this what toggle mode means? Also the pad light always comes on now, prior to this it didn't.
David Nahmani
Try to add "00" at the end of the Value Change. So in your case, "99 44 00".
Louis_francis
Hi David I have done that, it still hasn’t helped anything
Atlas007
In your first screen capture your Controller Assignment window shows that many Channel EQ: Low Cut... is present. Make sure that only one assignment for a given parameter is present (delete these assignments duplication).
Louis_francis
Hi Atlas007, they are for slopes and curve shape, assigned to the knobs on the controller.

Sedorikku
Hi! How about using the midi environment for that Start to monitor what type of message is sent when you turn on/off the low-cut using a monitor object on your channel. Once you figured out the message, use a transformer object to replace the initial message by the message sent by your pad. It's a bit hard to explain, but you could check a cool video where that guy is doing the process for another purpose (actually a cool way to use midi fx called modulator on an audio channel!). But the process will be the same and it should work. Here is the video: Hope this help!

Louis_francis
Sedorikku, I have put a monitor object on my channel but it is picking up nothing, i think im going to just give up, i see people do it, but i don't know why it is proving to be so difficult for me, Thanks guys for all the help maybe next time
David Nahmani
Your object is picking up nothing because you are hijacking the incoming MIDI events at the input of Logic when you're assigning them in control surfaces. If you want to pursue an environment solution, you need to delete your controller assignments first.
