BFD cymbals cutting off

Hi everyone

I did a search for this topic and it seems to have happened to others but not been solved as far as I could find.

My cymbals are being cut short in BFD when I do a bounce, even when I use the bounce switch in BFD. I've tried realtime and offline bouncing, same issues occur. Does anyone know how to stop this from happening?

I'm using BFD 1.5.46 B5, with the BFD All plugin.

Thanks!

p.s. I'm now flying round Logic faster every day, thanks to this forum!

I believe I use to have this problem as well. There is a "B" button in the BFD interface - It is at the very bottom, to the right of the help dialog box. I think they call it the Bounce switch. Give that a go - it should be lit. Either that or you can try loading all your samples to RAM.

Hope that helps.

Ok, itried loading all the samples into RAM, which crashes Logic for me. Tried ONLY loading Preview into RAM, doesn't work. Tried increasing both Buffer Sizes, doesn't work. Tried the Bounce Button, doesn't work. Tried all combinations of the previous, doesn't work. The thing that DOES seem to consistently work, as David suggested, is bouncing in Real Time. Haven't managed to get that to NOT work. So apart from being pissed at FXpansion/BFD, which i'll get over, this is a method of working i'm happy with and don't find too much of a hardship. Hope this works for you

Hmmm, thanks peeb. Sounds like my experience, except that I've also had the occasional cutoff with realtime bouncing too. Strange thing is, this is something (possibly the only thing) that worked really well on my old PC setup with Sonar. If I had the Bounce switch enabled, I wouldn't have a problem at all.

I've experienced this in both real time and offline bouncing...just one of the MANY problems I've had with this disappointing software.

There is another thread I started about the RIDICULOUSLY LOUD random white noise bursts that BFD has never been able to trace, which has rendered this plugin USELESS here. Latest drivers, OS, etc., have adjusted or trashed or inspected or deleted prefs, sleep mode, system settings, blah blah blah.

Good luck with your cymbal issue, after two years of wasted effort, I've abandoned this one and the $1000 I put into it and it's libraries.

Lame response on their website also. Caveat Emptor!

Well I wish I could say that I've managed to solve the problem, but I've tried just about everything I can think of. I've tried moving the BFD folder to external USB and firewire drives, I've tried just about every configuration of buffer and cache sizes that I could think of, and it's just bad bad bad. Every single bounce there is at least one instance of a drum or cymbal being cut abruptly short. Very, very frustrating.

woodenboy, I feel your pain. I wish I would have kept track of all the hours I struggled with BFD.

Never solved the cymbal cut off thing, never solved the HORRENDOUS white noise bursts that almost ripped my ears off.

I'd trade the $1000 I lost for the hours I wasted.

fxpansion, what's up?
