reallyrandy
I recording a really long orchestra piece and I need about 300 bars but Logic stops after 263 bars. Is this a limitation of Logic?
Holger Lagerfeldt
Have you tried grabbing the project end marker in the locator area and moving it to the right? Or adjusting the project end number in the transport bar. There's no limitation at 263 bars in Logic, I have a 700+ bar arrangement open right now. When recording a long file non-stop, the main limitation would be disk space. Make sure you have enough disk space to capture the full performance. Eric Cardenas
The number of bars is limited by the Time Signature and tempo of your project. Try a project set to 10 BPM and at 32/4 and you'll find a limit of ≈ 226 measures. A project set to 120 BPM at 4/4 allows for 21,601 measures. Holger Lagerfeldt
That's interesting, I didn't know that. But then again I almost always work in 4/4 and use a fairly high BPM (or double the BPM if I'm working at a slow BPM). Most of my editing is done at 281,25 BPM because that's equivalent to CD frames when cutting at divisions.
Daggilarr
Why can't I see the end marker, the square one seems to be missing in 10.1.1?
Holger Lagerfeldt
It's no longer square. It's a small triangle pointing left. As mentioned you can also find the Project End in the transport bar. Perhaps you need to see the full transport to get it (Ctrl+click to edit the transport bar).
des99
That's interesting, I didn't know that. It's due to the internal data structures - for a long time (from Logic 1.x) is was quite limited but this was finally upped a lot for (iirc) Logic 8 - but it's not infinite
reallyrandy
I lowered the BPM by half and more bars showed but but I still couldn't drag my drum loop out further. I also doubled the BPM to see what would happen and that didn't help either. Here's a screenshot.
Holger Lagerfeldt
As mentioned you need to first change the project end marker. Did you try that?
