bugbuster
When a loop is defined in the track area and I press Return, the playhead now goes to the far left locator instead of the start of the loop. Never did that before. Always went where playback would start. It has never done that before in Logic Pro 9 or X. It didn't do it a half hour ago. What heppened? David Nahmani
the playhead now goes to the far left locator instead of the start of the loop. If by loop you mean cycle area, then the definition of the left locator is the left edge of the cycle area. So I'm not sure what you mean here? bugbuster
Yes, I misspoke. The playhead now goes to the far left locator instead of the start of the cycle. I closed the project and opened another earlier one that had worked correctly. Same behavior, apparently not project dependent. I quit Logic, tried again, same result. Restarted the computer, same result. I should add that playback works right. That is, when I press the space bar, the playhead jumps to the cycle start and playback goes as usual. The problem for me is that I like to use the playhead and its vertical line to line up and visually check placement of regions.
JakobP
As David stated, the left locator is the start point of the cycle. What do you mean by "the far left locator" ?
bugbuster
I mean the leftmost point on the ruler when cycle mode is off. It is where the playhead normally goes when cycle mode is off and Return is pressed. Sorry, I'm having some difficulty finding the name of it. David Nahmani
That's the project start marker. Open your key commands window and select the left list of key commands, then press return to see what key command it's assigned to? For example the "Stop" key command goes to the left locator and the project start marker with alternative key presses.
bugbuster
Thanks for your help! I set a new key assignment that is intuitive to me: Shift-Return maps to "Go to beginning" now. (Rightly or wrongly, my memory tells me that in Logic Pro 9, Return put the playhead to the Left Locator if cycle mode was on, or the Project start marker if cycle mode was off. Whatever.) David Nahmani
in Logic Pro 9, Return put the playhead to the Left Locator if cycle mode was on, or the Project start marker if cycle mode was off. Yes, that sounds like the behavior of the "Stop" key command.
bugbuster
I imported my good old LP9 key commands. Since I never added or changed any of those, it might be a good way to reveal differences between 9 and X.
