Record new midi data to an existing midi region

Hi,

 

Is there a way to record new midi to an existing midi region? I have a drum sampler and first want to record the kick, then re-record (without removing the existing kick data) and add the snare, and so on..

 

If i press record again, Logic creates a new midi region instead of using the existing one..

 

I think this is a little thingy that must be possible but i can't find how to do that..

 

Anyone?

File->Song Settings->Recording

check the box:

Merge new recordings with selected Region

 

So when you want to record a new part just make sure your drum region is selected.

Or you can just record it as a second region then += key command it to merge. I find that is more useful than always merging.

But that's annoying when the regions overlap each other and you can't even select the hidden region. Unless you record to a new track and then clean up the unused tracks.

yes, david and that is actually why I didn't mentioned it... I find it too complicated...
