Proper Articulation ID switching

It would help tremendously if the Articulation ID implementation could be extended and made more accessible

Here is a mockup:

Logic FR Articulation switching

Feature

- Change selected notes of a VIs instrument channel (midi channel) to switch articulations inside a multi timbal instrument like NI Kontakt/ EW Play/VSL Instrument.

- articulations should be bound to notes like velocity does, so when moving notes the articulation moves with them

- Name and color these channels via a settings window where it is also possible to save templates one can later choose from for every single instrument or Midi track . In that editor there should be settings for incoming and outgoing controller data. I.e. incoming key switches get transformed to midi channel or CC32 so now you can realtime latch articulations while playing.

- Show articulation or midi channel name on notes depending on vertical zoom level or in the controller lane.

- Change general note view color setting from velocity to articulation lD or midi channel via the menu inside the piano roll.

- It would be cool if one could highlight notes in the piano roll, secondary click on them and change their articulation lD or midi channel otherwise the change can be done via the controller lane.

- Also if possible there should be an articulation ID/ midi setup window to name up to 16 or up to 127 instrument channels like (legato/staccato/tremolo etc)

- The whole workflow could show up in the score editor as well. That way notes in the score editor should engrave with corresponding articulation. No matter if you work in the piano roll or score editor.

Use case

When using an instance of NI Kontakt with single articulations of ie VIOLIN 1 spread over 16 instrument channels (midi channels) one can play in notes and then change its articulation (midi channel) to choose articulations accordingly.

Now when changing the notes instrument channel (midi channel) to channel 2 the note will change its color to orange and also shows the previously setup name on the notes (depending on vertical zoom level) or the controller lane like staccato

If one uses the controller lane and many notes of Legato are followed by multiple notes of Spiccato the controller lane should intelligently show just one line for legato to be able to show the name of articulation.

Over time ones own setup of colors and names will become second nature when dealing with articulations.

Benefit

If the articulation is bound to a note moving them will keep the articulation performance intact.

If the view setting of notes inside the piano roll editor is set to articulation ID or midi channel one can see articulations immediately.

Depending on workflow this could mean:

No more keyswitching (key switches mean clutter when transferred to notation and won't get chased reliably)

No more articulation switching via CC (continuous controllers) which won't follow notes if you move notes inside the editor (no more list editor editing headache). Also Continous Control is range based from 1-127 and ramp which makes editing a nightmare if used for articulations. Program Change is stepped and the controller lane for articulation shoukd also be stepped.

No more articulation STITCHING over 16 or more tracks per instrument in the Arrange View. This reduces clutter and track count. Especially when setting up a template in score order where there is just one violins 1 track per library or layered instrument instead of 16 or more violin 1 tracks per articulation.

If I may be so bold, there is a system that does pretty much exactly what you're talking about... www.skiswitcher.com

That said, yes, it would be awesome if Logic would allow articulation ID to be written to notes on their way into Logic so that by the time they arrive in a recording that the ID is already embedded in the notes. This would allow for articulations to be switched beyond the current MIDI limitation of 16 channels. But alas...
