Ben Crane
Just upgraded to Logic 10.2.1 - not sure how to get around this new dialog box; every time I drag a new MIDI file - for example EZ Drummer loop - into place this box comes up. I don't know which option to click and I'm sick of dealing with the box every single time I drag a file. Can anybody please suggest a fix? I want my MIDI file to sync with the tempo of course - is there a way to set that as default instead of clicking every time? This is ridiculous! Thanks for your help. David Nahmani
We can't see the dialog on your screenshot?
Ben Crane
Yeah - the image didn't link. It says "Also import tempo information? This will replace the project's current tempo information in the range of the MIDI file. Consider that the sequencer tempo will get out of sync with any previously recorded audio tracks, unless those are in Flex mode!" Then it gives three buttons - "Cancel", "Import Tempo" and "No" I assume I want to always import tempo, but not sure why that wouldn't be a default like it always has been in previous versions of Logic. When I use EZ Drummer I'm clicking and dragging probably a hundred loops, you can see why this would be an issue to me.
volovicg
You want to select No - if you want it to behave as it did in previous versions where the import did not prompt you to include the tempo of the midi file.
Ben Crane
Thanks volovicg, that answers one question. Is there any way we can set that answer somewhere in prefs as a default without having to wade thru the dialog box each time?
volovicg
This is a new feature in 10.2.1 and don't know if there is a way to over-ride the dialogue box - I have not discovered it if there is....
Ben Crane
I tried using modifier keys, singles and in combination, and nothing overrides the box. This is frustrating. Can you wade in here David? I'll see if I can leave a comment on their feedback page. Unless I'm the only one having this issue... thanks guys. David Nahmani
Can you wade in here David? I haven't found a way to disable that new dialog from popping up. I was hoping it would pop-up only for the first MIDI file you drag into the Tracks area but apparently it pops up with every single file you drag. I can understand how annoying that would get if you have a lot of them to drag!
Ben Crane
I wondered about that. I did send feedback so we'll see if it gets anywhere. Seems needless to do something like this with no way of choosing your preferred default in MIDI preferences. They got along just fine with all the previous versions. Oh well - first world problem... Thanks for your input.

Ben Crane
Is there any way to get this issue before somebody with LogicPro who could actually do something about it?

nightkrawler
Just upgraded to Logic 10.2 and discovered this dialog. This might be one of the most annoying things Apple has added to Logic. I submitted a feedback request to Apple. Hopefully they get it sorted, seems like a bug to not have a preference to save this information. Ben Crane
Let's hope we all get heard. This seriously eats into my tracking time and annoys the hang out of me. Please fix this Apple! Any pull that you have with them David?
David Nahmani
Any pull that you have with them David? The biggest pull I have with them is this forum Ben. Make a bug report, and use the feedback form to link them to it, so they can see it's asked publicly. The more agreeing answers to your bug report, the more visibility and weight it will be given to the Logic team.
Ben Crane
Thanks David. I'll do what I can.
Jordi Torres
Looks like we've had the option to not show that dialog again since 10.3.2...just noticed it now in 10.4: However, I haven't seen a preference to get it back to asking again...seems like only trashing the prefs file does it?
